Following a number of safety events that caused worries, United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby is attempting to reassure customers.

In a letter sent out early Monday to United customers, he said the incidents, though each unrelated, had caught the company’s attention and “sharpened [its] focus.”

“Our team is reviewing the details of each case to understand what happened and using those insights to inform our safety training and procedures across all employee groups,” Kirby wrote.

At least four distinct mishaps involving United Airlines aircraft have occurred in the last two weeks, two of which necessitated emergency landings due to a lost tire and a runway roll-off.

According to Kirby, United is already planning to add more resources devoted to supplier network management, a more consolidated curriculum for maintenance operators, and one more day of in-person training for all pilots beginning in May.

One of Boeing’s biggest clients is United. Following an incident in January where a door panel blew off aloft and required an emergency landing, the manufacturer is still the subject of various federal investigations. Among other things, the occurrences have sparked concerns about overall flight safety, but some experts have told customers not to worry.

Regarding United’s future partnership with Boeing, a request for comment was not immediately answered by a United representative.

Kirby, however, announced this week that his airline was delaying its reservations for Boeing Max 10s and would now consider ordering additional Max 9s or switching to an Airbus aircraft instead of a Boeing Max 10.

Conclusion

United Airlines focuses on safety after mishaps. CEO reassurance and considerations for future aircraft orders highlight the commitment to passenger safety. Stay updated on aviation news with us.
