TFD – Discover exciting news as Cillian Murphy is set to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby in the upcoming “Peaky Blinders” film.

It appears that Cillian Murphy, who recently won the Oscar for best actor, hasn’t forgotten his roots.

The acclaimed crime drama “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight revealed to Birmingham World that he will play Tommy Shelby, the gang leader, again in the next film adaptation of the series.

“He will most certainly be coming back for it,” Knight informed the newspaper. “We’re filming it in September in Digbeth, right down the street.”

CNN has contacted Murphy’s representatives to request a statement.

The actor’s portrayal of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer” made him the buzz of the last awards season.

Given Murphy’s tremendous success with “Oppenheimer,” fans of “Peaky Blinders” had voiced curiosity on social media about whether he would return to the role.
