Danny Masterson’s bail was denied by the judge, who stated that the actor had ‘every incentive to flee.’

A Los Angeles judge called the “That ’70s Show” actor a flight risk in her order denying bail after Masterson had a bail review hearing, reports say.

Danny Masterson’s bail was denied by the judge, who stated that the actor had “every incentive to flee.”

According to reports, Danny Masterson, who was found guilty of raping two women in 2003 and is presently spending time in a California state prison, has been refused bail while he files an appeal.

Olmedo stated in her decision that the defendant “will likely remain in custody for decades and perhaps the rest of his life if his conviction and sentence are upheld on appeal,” according to The Wrap. “In light of the fact that defendant has no wife to go home to, defendant now has every incentive to flee and little reason to return to state prison to serve out the remainder of his lengthy sentence should his appeal be unsuccessful.”

September saw the filing of Bijou Phillips’ divorce from Masterson, his spouse of 12 years, a little more than a week following his sentencing. The next month, Masterson requested that a Santa Barbara Superior Court judge give Phillips full legal and physical custody of their 9-year-old daughter Fianna, with the option for him to visit the child sometimes.

For further information, USA TODAY has contacted Masterson’s attorneys as well as the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.

In late December, Masterson was admitted to North Kern State Prison to serve his 30-years-to-life prison sentence, which Olmedo handed down Sept. 7. In May, after deliberating for seven days, a jury of seven women and five men found him guilty of raping two women in his Los Angeles home in 2003. They could not reach a verdict on the third count, that alleged Masterson raped a longtime girlfriend.

Danny Masterson is incarcerated in a California state jail for a term ranging from 30 years to life.

During the sentencing, Olmedo addressed Masterson, saying, “Mr. Masterson, I know that you’re sitting here steadfast in your claims of innocence and thus no doubt feeling victimized by a justice system that has failed you.”

But in this case, Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim. She went on, “Your actions twenty years ago took away another person’s voice and choice. “One way or another you will have to come to terms with your prior actions and their consequences.”
