Biden supporters among Jewish Americans, according to Trump, “should be spoken to” and don’t love Israel.

On Monday, former President Donald Trump once more attacked Jewish Americans who do not support him, claiming that any Jew who votes for Vice President Joe Biden is not a supporter of Israel and “has to be spoken to.”

The presumed GOP nominee’s latest instance of feeding the antisemitic myth that Jewish Americans have multiple allegiances to the US and Israel is this.

In an interview that aired Monday night on Real America’s Voice, Trump stated, “Any Jewish person that votes for Biden does not love Israel and frankly, should be spoken to.”

Amid Israel’s conflict with Hamas in Gaza, Trump said Biden was “totally on the side of the Palestinians.” For the most part, Biden has not wavered in his support of Israel’s right to self-defense. However, last week, he threatened Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with dire consequences if Israel did not alter its military strategy. And just last week, Trump declared that Israel was “losing the PR war” due to the images emanating from Gaza and that they needed to “finish what they started” and “get it over with fast.”

Additionally, Trump asserted on Monday that Black and Jewish Americans support Democrats “by habit.”

“Much of it is habitual. By habit, Jews simply vote for Democrats, and Black folks also vote for Democrats by habit,” Trump stated.

His most recent remarks are similar to those he made last month, which the Biden campaign and administration swiftly condemned. During an interview with Sebastian Gorka, a former White House assistant, Trump claimed that Jews who support Democrats “hate their religion” and “everything about Israel.

Trump has long indulged in antisemitic stereotypes, criticizing Jewish Americans for not giving him more support. He made antisemitic remarks in a speech to the Republican Jewish Coalition during his first presidential campaign. He also informed reporters that Jewish Americans had abandoned Israel soon after he left office in 2021.

“Evangelicals are far more appreciative of this than the people of the Jewish faith, especially those living in the U.S.” he added a year later, in reference to American Jews’ lack of appreciation for his administration’s policy toward Israel. Additionally, Trump posted on social media last year during the Jewish New Year celebrations, claiming that liberal Jews who disapproved of him “voted to destroy America & Israel.”

The American Jewish Committee published a report last month that found that at least 63% of American Jews felt less secure about their place in American society than they did a year ago. As previously reported by CNN, the Anti-Defamation League recorded 3,283 instances of antisemitic incidents in the three months that followed Hamas’ October 7 strikes on Israel. This represents a 361% increase over the same period the previous year.

According to the 2020 Pew Research Center study, Jewish Americans have been a predominantly Democratic and politically liberal group for many years, favoring Democrats over Republicans by a considerable margin. American Jews of other denominations, such as the Reform and Conservative branches, have affiliated with or leaned toward the Democratic party, while Orthodox Jews lean mainly Republican.
