As reported by GBH News, Sen. Elizabeth Warren stated last week that she thinks “what Israel is doing is wrong” and that she thinks international courts could view Israel’s conduct in Gaza as genocide.

When asked if she believed that “Israel is committing a genocide,” a member of the audience asked Warren, “If you want to do it as an application of law, I believe that they’ll find that it is genocide, and they have ample evidence to do so.”

Saying that what Israel is doing is wrong is, in my opinion, considerably more essential. Furthermore, it is incorrect. Starving children in a civilian community in an attempt to force them to comply with your wishes is wrong. The Massachusetts Democrat Warren stated, “It is wrong to drop 2,000-pound bombs in densely populated civilian areas.” “I think I can argue more persuasively if I describe the behavior and state whether I think it is right or wrong.” Additionally, Warren expressed her want to “get people past a labels argument.”

Warren “commented on the ongoing legal process at the International Court of Justice, not sharing her views on whether genocide is occurring in Gaza,” a spokeswoman for the senator said in a statement to Politico.

CNN has requested a statement from Warren’s office.

The 1948 Genocide Convention requires Israel to “take all measures within its power” to avoid acts that could violate it and to make sure that its military does not carry out genocidal activities in Gaza. The International Court of Justice ruled in favor of six emergency measures in January.

Warren has demanded restrictions on future aid to the US ally and attacked the Biden administration’s policy toward Israel, asking for a ceasefire.

Warren said on X following the deaths of seven World Central Kitchen aid workers in an Israeli strike: “Aid workers reflect the best of humanity and need to be protected.” @WCKitchen is attempting to provide food for Gaza’s needy population. The indiscriminate bombing must end under Netanyahu’s administration. Massive supplies of humanitarian aid must be sent, as well as an urgent cease-fire.

Conclusion

Senator Elizabeth Warren’s vocal condemnation of Israel’s actions highlights the urgent need for humanitarian aid and a cease-fire in Gaza. Her stance on protecting aid workers underscores the importance of international intervention in the region.
