Tuesday in Florida, a 9-year-old child was struck by a school bus and died.
In a press release provided to USA TODAY on Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol stated that the young student got off the Orange County Public School bus near the Waterford East Apartments in Orlando.
The 54-year-old bus driver continued driving forward, but the youngster fled and crawled beneath the vehicle. The youngster was struck by the bus’s right rear tire, and the authorities declared him dead at the site.
At the scene, Lt. Tara Crescenzi, a spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol, informed Fox 35 that, as of Tuesday afternoon, an investigation was still ongoing pending a review of the video.

Superintendent Dr. Maria Vazquez issued a statement saying, “We are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of one of our precious students who was involved in a bus accident late (yesterday) afternoon.” “The Lawton Chiles Elementary School community is grieving the loss of a loved one, and while OCPS is fully cooperating with the ongoing Florida Highway Patrol investigation, we ask that you keep them in your prayers.”
