In relation to a six-car collision that occurred last month, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice turned himself in to police on Thursday night in Texas, according to authorities. After posting bond, he was released from custody.

According to Dallas police, Rice, 23, turned himself in to Glenn Heights police and was processed at a regional jail in Desoto. Later afterward, the Chiefs player bailed out of jail, a DeSoto city spokesperson informed TFD on Thursday night. In jail records, Rice listed a $40,000 surety bond.

In a statement to CNN, Rice’s lawyer Royce West said, “Mr. Rice acknowledges his actions and feels deeply for those injured as a result of this accident.”

Dallas police had issued arrest warrants for the Chiefs wide receiver as well as another man on Wednesday after a Corvette and a Lamborghini crashed in the far-left lane of the North Central Expressway on March 31, according to police.

According to Dallas police, Rice, who assisted his team in winning the Super Bowl two months prior, and a male, age 21, will each be charged with one crime of aggravated assault, one case of collision involving serious bodily damage, and six counts of collision involving injury.

As of Thursday night, the other individual was not in jail, according to the police. The Chiefs have been contacted by CNN for a response. “We continue to monitor developments in the matter,” an NFL spokeswoman stated.

According to officials, the incident last month included a total of six automobiles.

“The Lamborghini traveled onto the shoulder and hit the center median wall, causing a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles,” spokesperson Kristin Lowman told CNN last week.

“Without pausing to assess who needed medical attention or to exchange information, the occupants of the Lamborghini and the Corvette fled the scene.”

Injuries were treated for four individuals from different automobiles, Lowman continued.

According to Rice’s lawyer, his client was operating the Lamborghini. According to Dallas police, the second man was operating the Corvette, and they confirmed this on Wednesday. Police have stated that no charges would be brought against any of the occupants of the Corvette or Lamborghini in connection with the incident.

According to Kyle Coker, an attorney representing The Classic Lifestyle, a company that lends out premium cars, Rice texted the company that had loaned him the car after the collision.

About eight minutes following the police complaint, Rashee Rice did send a text to my client. “He expressed regret and promised to cover the expenses,” Coker said, declining to provide TFD access to the text messages. The texts have been seen, according to The Dallas Morning News.

According to Coker, Rice paid a “reduced rate” of $12,000 a month to rent the Lamborghini SUV.

When TFD contacted law enforcement on Wednesday to inquire further about the incident and the anticipated charges, Dallas police withheld any further information.

Rice posted on social media last week that he had discussed the crash with police.

“I fully accept responsibility for my involvement in this, and I’ll keep helping the appropriate authorities. I genuinely sorry to everyone who was affected by the accident on Saturday,” he added.

Rice was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of last year’s NFL Draft and as a rookie established himself as the team’s most reliable wide receiver, tallying 79 catches for 938 yards and a team-high of seven touchdowns.

He added another 26 receptions for 262 yards and a touchdown in four playoff games, shattering the rookie record for most receptions in a playoffs. His output and steady hands were important in the Chiefs and their standout quarterback Patrick Mahomes winning the Super Bowl in February, marking their third NFL title in the previous five years.

Rice was raised in North Richland Hills, in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas as a collegiate football player.

Conclusion

Rashee Rice’s arrest in connection with a car collision in Texas underscores the legal consequences faced by athletes and the ongoing monitoring by sports organizations like the NFL and the Chiefs. As the story develops, the significance of responsible behavior both on and off the field is emphasized, reflecting the broader impact of such incidents on the sports community and the public perception of professional athletes.
