Amit Shah demands Kashmir be treated like Jammu’s “Zero Terror Plan” during the J&K review meeting.

Sunday’s high-level discussion on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the light of recent terror incidents there was convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.

During the discussion, Shah urged for extensive security arrangements for the impending Amarnath Yatra and ordered tough action against Jammu’s sponsors of terrorism.

According to sources who spoke to India Today TV, the Home Minister also emphasized the importance of having strong security coverage for the trip and pushed authorities to guarantee the protection of all roads and important areas.

According to them, Shah gave the highest ranking security officers orders to deal with any new terrorism in the Jammu area with “strong response” and to stop it from happening again at all costs.

Additionally, he gave the security agencies instructions to duplicate the Area Domination Plan and Zero Terror Plan’s successes in Jammu with the Kashmir Valley.

In addition, the Home Minister demanded concerted action to protect all holy places, including Shivkhori and Vaishno Devi.

Shah ordered the augmentation of security troops along the highways and the use of human intelligence in the tracking of terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir as well as their backers.

Additionally, he demanded that all entry points into the Valley utilized by foreign terrorists be closed. The need for a multi-layered security protection for the Amarnath Yatra, which is set to begin on June 29 and end on August 19, was brought up at the discussion.

The high-level meeting was attended by a number of high-ranking security officials, including National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Army Chief-designate Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Director General of CRPF Anish Dayal Singh, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Three days earlier, at a similar meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered officials to use the “full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities” in response to a string of terror incidents, including an attack on a bus carrying pilgrims. Shah chaired the high-level meeting held here at North Block.

Terrorists attacked four locations in the Jammu and Kashmir districts of Reasi, Kathua, and Doda during the course of the last week, killing nine pilgrims and a CRPF jawan while injuring seven security personnel and several others.

During an engagement with security personnel in the Kathua district, two suspected Pakistani terrorists were also slain, and a significant amount of weapons and ammo were found on them.

The events occur prior of the yearly pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine in the Himalayas of south Kashmir.
