LONDON:Following his treatment for an enlarged prostate, Britain’s King Charles III will have a “corrective procedure” in the hospital the following week, Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday.

The statement read, “The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate, in common with thousands of men each year.” “His Majesty’s condition is benign, and he will have a corrective procedure at the hospital the following week.”

“Public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation,” the 75-year-old monarch’s statement continued. The events and meetings that he was supposed to attend on Friday in Scotland have been rescheduled.

Charles “was keen to share the details of his diagnosis to encourage other men who may be experiencing symptoms to get checked, in line with public health advice,” an insider from Buckingham Palace told NBC News.

The announcement was released on the same day that it was revealed Kate, the Princess of Wales, had undergone routine stomach surgery and would spend a maximum of two weeks in the hospital.

According to a statement from Kensington Palace, the 42-year-old wife of Prince William, the eldest son of Charles and heir apparent to the throne, will take an extended vacation from her customarily hectic schedule of public appearances and private engagements.

After his mother Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2002 at the age of 96, after holding the reign for a record 70 years, Charles succeeded to the throne.

In 1953, at the age of 27, she was crowned, marking a momentous occasion that was first broadcast on the relatively new technology of television. Charles, on the other hand, was a seasoned royal who had represented his nation on several occasions over the globe before being crowned at the age of 73.

Since then, he has encountered several difficulties, such as the current issue regarding the link between his brother Prince Andrew and infamous businessman Jeffrey Epstein.
