Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Recovery and Commitment to ‘Fubar’ After Pacemaker Surgery

According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, he had surgery last week to install a pacemaker, and he is “doing great.”

In Monday’s episode of his podcast “Arnold’s Pump Club,” the Hollywood actor and former California governor said, “Last Monday, I had surgery for a pacemaker and became a little bit more of a machine.”

Declaring the news “goes against so much of my upbringing in Austria, where nobody ever talked about medical issues,” added Schwarzenegger. Everything about health care was kept private.

Though he was born with a congenital heart defect known as bicuspid aortic valve, the 76-year-old claimed to have received numerous messages from other people who share his condition, “telling me that talking about my valve replacement surgeries has given them courage and hope to deal with their own.”

“It only feels right to talk about this because I know that going against my secretive instinct and being transparent helps people,” he continued.

Schwarzenegger had a pulmonic valve replacement in 1997, which facilitates the movement of blood from the heart to the lungs.

The aged pulmonic valve that had been implanted was then replaced during an open heart surgery in 2018.

He underwent surgery to replace his aortic valve, which facilitates the passage of blood from the heart to the rest of the body, two years later.

It was time to proceed with this most recent procedure, according to Schwarzenegger’s doctors, “because some scar tissue from my previous surgery had made my heartbeat irregular.” That was the situation for a few years.

“I’m doing fantastic. After undergoing surgery on Monday, I was at a significant environmental event on Friday alongside my friend and fellow fitness advocate Jane Fonda,” Schwarzenegger remarked.

“Nobody would have imagined that I began the week with surgery,” he remarked, expressing gratitude to the Cleveland Clinic’s medical staff.

He continued by saying that having an inherited cardiac condition means he must have frequent checkups. You won’t hear me whining, though.

He stated, “I am still here because of medical innovation and my strict attention to keeping in contact with and listening to my doctors.”

The actor stated, “I can’t do my serious training in the gym for a while, but I will be 100% ready for ‘Fubar’ next month.” The actor made his TV series debut in the 2023 Netflix action-adventure “Fubar” last year.
