V6s are at the bottom of the number hierarchy for V-engined cars, which have cylinders that are uniformly distributed across two banks and positioned at a 45-degree angle to one another. Nevertheless, because of their buttery smooth power delivery and accompanying raspy note, V6 engines can provide thrilling driving experiences.
And if you just want to potter around the city, V6s can be quite docile, predictable, and surprisingly fuel-efficient. Not to mention, V6-powered cars also cost less than equivalent V8-equipped models, so you get nearly as many thrills with greater daily usability at a lower price. Given the numerous merits of this engine, we’ve put together a list of every V6 car in India you can currently buy.
1. Audi S5 Sportback
Cost: 77.77 lakh rupees

The S5 Sportback, one of the most attractive Audi vehicles available, is also now the most reasonably priced V6 vehicle in India. The S5 Sportback from Audi has a 3.0-liter turbo-petrol V6 engine that produces 354 horsepower and 500 Nm. Power is distributed to all four wheels using the Quattro system when this V6 is mated to an 8-speed torque converter auto transmission.

Our analysis of the S5 Sportback explains how the drive modes of the sports sedan quickly change the V6’s personality. The S5 Sportback roars across the rev band and delivers power mercilessly in Dynamic mode, while Comfort mode transforms it into a smooth and elegant vehicle that you can drive on a daily basis. The S5 Sportback can reach a top speed of 250 kph after a claimed 4.8 seconds to get from 0 to 100 kph.
2. The Audi Q7
Cost: between Rs 92.29 lakh and Rs 1 crore

With a little lower power output of 340 horsepower, the current generation of Audi’s legendary Q7 three-row SUV, which has been available for purchase in India for a number of years, is powered by the same 3.0-liter turbo-petrol V6 as the S5. We were delighted with the V6’s refinement and how it makes this hefty luxury SUV feel sporty and pleasurable to drive when we saw the 2024 Q7 makeover.
2025 Audi Q7 specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.0-litre, V6, turbo-petrol |
Power (hp) | 340 |
Torque (Nm) | 500 |
Gearbox | 8-speed torque converter |
Drive layout | AWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 5.6 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 250 |
Despite the full-sized SUV’s bulk, Audi says that the Q7 can reach 100 kph in 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 kph electronically. It also comes with Quattro AWD and an 8-speed torque converter transmission.
3. The Audi Q8
Cost: INR 1.18 crore

The Q8, the German automaker’s flagship SUV in India, is the last Audi on this list. The Q8’s 3.0-liter turbo-petrol V6 engine produces 340 horsepower and is coupled to an 8-speed automated transmission with Quattro AWD.
2025 Audi Q8 specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.0-litre, V6, turbo-petrol |

Gearbox | 8-speed torque converter |
Drive layout | AWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 5.6 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 250 |
When you press the correct pedal, its V6 engine demonstrates its real power, as our evaluation of the 2024 Q8 makeover demonstrates. In normal usage, it runs smoothly. The Q8 has a top speed of 250 kph and can complete the 0-100 kph run in 5.6 seconds, according to the company.
4. Cayenne/Cayenne Coupe Porsche
Cost: Rs 1.49 crore in addition to Rs 1.55 crore

The Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe are part of Porsche’s premium SUV lineup. They are both driven by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 353 horsepower and 500 Nm and is connected to an 8-speed automated transmission with AWD.
2025 Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne Coupe specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.0-litre, V6, twin-turbo petrol |
Power (hp) | 353 |
Torque (Nm) | 500 |
Gearbox | 8-speed torque converter |
Drive layout | AWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 6 (5.7 with Sport Chrono Package) |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 248 |
Although its V6 isn’t the most exciting engine, we pointed out in our Cayenne review that it like staying in the higher range of revs and has a powerful, responsive power distribution system. It is stated that the Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe can hit 100 kph from rest in 6 seconds, and that time decreases to 5.7 seconds if you choose the Rs 2.14 lakh Sport Chrono Package. The stated top speed is 248 kph.
5. The Porsche Panamera
Cost: INR 1.80 crore

Porsche’s only ICE-powered car, the Patherais is also the priciest on this list. It has a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 353 horsepower and 500 Nm. The engine is connected to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, which transfers the power to the back wheels.
2025 Porsche Panamera specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 2.9-litre, V6, twin-turbo petrol |
Power (hp) | 353 |
Torque (Nm) | 500 |
Gearbox | 8-speed dual-clutch automatic |

Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 5.3 (5.1 with Sport Chrono Package) |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 272 |
The Panamera’s stated peak speed is 272 kph, and it takes 5.3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 kph (5.7 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package).
6. The Grecale Trofeo Maserati
Cost: Rs 2.13 crore

In its hotter Trofeo version, the SUV is driven by the Italian brand’s “Nettuno” 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, which produces 530 horsepower and 620 Nm. The Grecale is a Maserati entry-level vehicle for India. All four wheels receive power from this powertrain through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2025 Maserati Grecale Trofeo specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.0-litre, V6, twin-turbo petrol |
Power (hp) | 530 |
Torque (Nm) | 620 |
Gearbox | 8-speed torque converter |
Drive layout | AWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 3.8 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 285 |
The Grecale Trofeo is by far the fastest SUV on this list, reaching the 100 kph mark from a standstill in a reported 3.8 seconds. Maserati also states that the Grecale Trofeo can reach a top speed of 285 kph.
7. The Toyota Land Cruiser 300
Cost: about Rs 2.31-2.41 crore

The Land Cruiser 300 is justifiably the flagship model of Toyota’s India lineup and is arguably the best luxury SUV that can travel anyplace this side of a Range Rover. It’s interesting to note that the Land Cruiser 300 is one of just two vehicles on this list with body-on-frame construction and a diesel engine. The SUV’s 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine powers the vehicle.
2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.3-litre, V6, twin-turbo diesel |
Power (hp) | 309 |
Torque (Nm) | 700 |
Gearbox | 10-speed torque converter |
Drive layout | AWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 8.0 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | – |
Power output is on the lower side (relatively) at 309hp, but being a twin-turbo diesel, the Land Cruiser 300’s V6 develops a titanic 700Nm. In ourreview of the Land Cruiser 300, we remarked that though the diesel V6 is a bit grumbly and loud at higher speeds, it pulls quite strongly, and the 10-speed automatic gearbox does well to keep the engine on the boil. 0-100kph comes up in a claimed 8 seconds for the LC300.
8. Granturismo Maserati
Cost: 2.68–2.87 crore rupees

With the Nettuno V6 version of the sportscar available in two different states: Modena and Trofeo, the GranTurismoi is now the highest model in Maserati India’s lineup. The GranTurismo produces 490 horsepower and 600 Nm in the former configuration, while it increases to 550 horsepower and 650 Nm in the latter. Both versions come with AWD and an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
2025 Maserati GranTurismo specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.0-litre, V6, twin-turbo petrol |
Power (hp) | 490 (Modena) / 550 (Trofeo) |
Torque (Nm) | 600 / 650 |
Gearbox | 8-speed torque converter |
Drive layout | AWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 3.9 / 3.5 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 302 / 320 |
We looked at the Granturismo Trofeo and discovered that its V6 engine is a firecracker. The transmission operates smoothly, the power delivery is quick, and the sound quality is good. Coming to claimed 0-100kph times, the GranTurismo Modena and Trofeo stand at 3.9 seconds and 3.5 seconds, respectively, and top speeds are similarly rated at 302kph and 320kph.
9. GranCabrio Trofeo Maserati
Cost: Rs 2.98 crore

The GranCabrio is the GranTurismo’s convertible derivative, as one might anticipate. You receive the same 550 horsepower Nettuno twin-turbo V6 engine as the GranTurismo Trofeo, along with an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD, since Maserati sells the GranCabrio here in Trofeo form.
2025 Maserati GranCabrio Trofeo specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.0-litre, V6, twin-turbo petrol |
Power (hp) | 550 |
Torque (Nm) | 650 |
Gearbox | 8-speed torque converter |
Drive layout | AWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 3.6 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 316 |
With a top speed of 316 kph and a claimed 0-100 kph time of 3.6 seconds, the GranCabrio Trofeo’s stated performance numbers are marginally lower than those of the GranTurismo Trofeo due to its drop-top design.
10. The Lexus LX 500d
Cost: Rs 3.00 to Rs 3.12 crore

The LX is Lexus’ version of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, therefore both full-sized SUVs are the same underneath their intimidating and aggressive exteriors. The SUV shares its 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, 10-speed automated transmission, and AWD configuration with the LC300, making the LX 500d the only other body-on-frame diesel vehicle on this list.
2025 Lexus LX 500d specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.3-litre, V6, twin-turbo diesel |
Power (hp) | 304 |
Torque (Nm) | 700 |
Gearbox | 10-speed torque converter |
Drive layout | AWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 8.0 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | – |
The driving experiences of the LC300 and the LX 500d aren’t all that different, as our review points out. Although it can become noticeable at higher speeds, the diesel V6 pulls like a freight train and feels ideal for highway cruising. It also claims a 0-100 kph time of 8 seconds.
11. The McLaren Artura
Cost: Rs 5.10 crore

The Artura-McLaren single hybrid offering is the first of the mid-engined top three. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that powers the Artura’s rear-mounted electric motor is coupled to a 7.4-kWh battery. 680 horsepower and 720 Nm of combined powertrain output are sent only to the back wheels using an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
2025 McLaren Artura specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.0-litre, V6, twin-turbo petrol |
Hybrid assist | Plug-in hybrid |
Power (hp) | 680 |
Torque (Nm) | 720 |
Gearbox | 8-speed dual-clutch automatic |
Drive layout | RWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 3.0 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 330 |
In our assessment of the Artura, we noted that the hybrid engine delivers a fantastic driving experience because of the dual-clutch automatic’s smoothness, the V6’s urgent bark up to its 8,500 rpm redline, and the fast and powerful power delivery. The Artura’s claimed performance numbers are also insane: it can reach a high speed of 330 kph, reach 100 kph in 3 seconds, and reach 200 kph in 8.3 seconds.
12. The 296 GTB Ferrari
Cost: Rs 5.40 crore

Though the 296 GTB is technically the entry-level mid-engined Ferrari, it’s easily the fastest and most powerful car on this list. At the heart of the 296 GTB is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, 7.45kWh battery, rear-mounted electric motor, and an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission – identical to the Artura. However, the 296 GTB outputs a colossal 830hp and 740Nm (combined).
2025 Ferrari 296 GTB specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.0-litre, V6, twin-turbo petrol |
Hybrid assist | Plug-in hybrid |
Power (hp) | 830 |
Torque (Nm) | 740 |
Gearbox | 8-speed dual-clutch automatic |
Drive layout | RWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 2.9 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 330 |
Astoundingly, the 296 GTB’s power-to-weight ratio of 565hp per tonne is higher than that of the 1,001hp Bugatti Veyron. As our 296 GTB review points out, the Ferrari’s performance is mind-numbing, with its manic acceleration effortlessly making straight roads pass by in a blur, all while the V6 howls to its 8,500rpm redline. It takes the 296 GTB just 2.9 seconds (claimed) to complete the 0-100kph run, and 0-200kph comes up in 7.3 seconds.
13. The Ferrari 296 GTS
Cost: Rs 6.24 crore

The Ferrari 296 GTS, the convertible variant of the 296 GTB, is the most expensive item on this list. The hard-top GTS features the same 830 horsepower, V6 plug-in hybrid drivetrain with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic because the two 296 form factors are mechanically equivalent.
2025 Ferrari 296 GTS specs | |
---|---|
Engine | 3.0-litre, V6, twin-turbo petrol |
Hybrid assist | Plug-in hybrid |
Power (hp) | 830 |
Torque (Nm) | 740 |
Gearbox | 8-speed dual-clutch automatic |
Drive layout | RWD |
Claimed 0-100kph time (seconds) | 2.9 |
Claimed top speed (kph) | 330 |
We drove the 296 GTS across the Himalayas and were equally as surprised by its performance as we were by the GTB. The acceleration is brutal, holding you to the headrest and refusing to let go until you reduce the throttle. You may also appreciate the V6’s noise and speed more intensely than the 296 GTB when the top is folded down. Notably, the 296 GTS can reach 100 kph almost as quickly as the GTB, but it claims a 0-200 kph time of 7.6 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds slower.
