With a makeover that included new 17-inch alloy wheels, updated bumpers, a modified grille, and differently styled LED daytime running lamps and taillights, the current Mercedes-Benz A-Class limousine has been available for purchase in India since May 2023. The A-Class Limousine is the entry-level three-pointed star and the least expensive Mercedes vehicle in India, with a price tag of Rs 46.05 lakh. Here are three reasons to purchase the Mercedes A-Class sedan and two reasons to think about its main rival, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, based on our extensive testing and feedback from our road test crew.
The quality of a Mercedes A-Class limousine ride
Compared to some of its larger sedan brothers, the ride quality is superior.

The ride quality of Mercedes’s smallest sedan in India is one of its highlights, as we noted in our assessment of the Mercedes A-Class limousine and when we contrasted it with the BMW 2 Series GC. Thanks to a soft setup that expertly reduces the impact of severe bumps and maintains the sedan’s stability as speed increases, it actually rides better than some of its larger sedan brothers. The Merc is easier to drive at low speeds, even though the A-Class Limousine does not handle as well as the 2 Series because of its light but inert steering and noticeable body roll.
The back seat space of a Mercedes A-Class limousine
Passengers as tall as six feet have adequate head and legroom.

Even 6-foot passengers may seat comfortably thanks to the A-Class’s 2,729mm wheelbase, which also provides plenty of leg and knee room for rear passengers. Notably, the rather narrow cabin makes it better suited for two people, and the low seat position causes a knees-up stance, thus rear-seat comfort could have been improved.
Features and interior of a Mercedes A-Class limousine
The features, materials, and design are all impressive.

Refinement is one of the A-Class Limousine’s minor drawbacks. The fact that some road noise enters the cabin of this car is possibly its single un-Mercedes-like feature.

1.3-liter turbo-petrol with 163 horsepower isn’t smooth.

A 1.3-liter turbo-petrol with 163 horsepower doesn’t seem effortless.

Power | 163hp |
Torque | 250Nm |
Gearbox | 7-speed dual-clutch automatic |

The 1.3-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which produces 163 horsepower and 250 nm of torque, is another source of annoyance. Despite Mercedes’s 8.3-second 0-100 kph time promise, you will frequently find yourself extending this engine because it requires some effort to start. Engine refinement is reasonable at idle and during light cruising at low revs, but once the tachometer crosses the 3,500rpm mark, the engine becomes quite audible. Although it shifts quickly, the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic may seem clumsy when under pressure.
