Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has reported its highest-ever monthly sales in January 2026, marking a major milestone for the company in the Indian automobile market. The company recorded 59,107 domestic unit sales, reflecting a strong 9.5% year-on-year (YoY) growth. Additionally, Hyundai achieved its highest total monthly sales of 73,137 units, representing an impressive 11.5% YoY increase.
The record-breaking performance highlights Hyundai’s growing dominance in the Indian passenger vehicle segment and increasing consumer confidence in its product lineup. The company attributed the milestone to strong demand across multiple models, supported by expanding distribution, aggressive marketing strategies, and improved production efficiency.
Among Hyundai’s top-performing models, the Hyundai Venue and Hyundai Aura emerged as key contributors. The Hyundai Venue recorded 12,413 units sold, while the Hyundai Aura registered 7,978 units sold, both achieving their highest-ever monthly sales figures. These numbers underscore the popularity of Hyundai’s compact SUV and entry-level sedan among Indian consumers.
Exports also played a crucial role in Hyundai’s growth trajectory. In January 2026, the company exported 14,030 units, representing a significant 20.9% year-on-year growth. This strong export performance reflects Hyundai’s expanding footprint in global markets and increasing demand for Indian-manufactured vehicles across international regions.
Commenting on the milestone achievement, Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, described January 2026 as a defining moment for the company’s journey in India.
“Achieving our highest-ever total sales of 73,137 units with a robust 11.5% year-on-year growth, along with our highest-ever monthly domestic sales of 59,107 units, reflects Hyundai’s brand leadership and the collective strength of our employees, partners, and customers. The impressive 20.9% increase in exports to 14,030 units further demonstrates the growing confidence in the Hyundai brand across global markets,” Garg said.
He further emphasized Hyundai’s commitment to long-term growth, innovation, and customer-centric mobility solutions as the company moves forward in 2026.
“As we look ahead this year, we will continue to lead with purpose—creating enduring value for our customers, empowering our stakeholders, and shaping the future of mobility in India,” Garg added.
Industry experts believe Hyundai’s strong January performance reflects improving consumer sentiment, rising disposable incomes, and a growing preference for technologically advanced and fuel-efficient vehicles. The company’s consistent focus on design, safety, and digital connectivity features has also helped strengthen its market position.
With record domestic and export sales, Hyundai Motor India has set a strong benchmark for the rest of 2026, positioning itself as one of the leading automobile manufacturers in the country’s highly competitive passenger vehicle market.
