Kawasaki has given its entry-level Ninja 125 and Z125 motorcycles a fresh update for 2026, introducing striking new liveries while maintaining the proven technical foundation that makes them popular among A1 licence holders. These bikes remain an accessible entry point into the Kawasaki family, offering beginners a balance of style, performance, and practicality.
First launched in 1984, the Ninja line has become synonymous with Kawasaki’s racing DNA, while the Z family, dating back to 1972, embodies the brand’s naked streetfighter attitude. With the latest Ninja 125 and Z125, Kawasaki continues to distill these legacies into approachable machines designed for new riders who want a taste of the brand’s performance pedigree.
What’s new for 2026?
The update is cosmetic, focusing on refreshed paint schemes that bring both bikes in line with Kawasaki’s current design language. The Ninja 125 will be offered in Lime Green with Metallic Graphite Gray and Metallic Spark Black, priced at £4,699 (around ₹4.93 lakh). The Z125 comes in two sharp options — Pearl Storm Gray with Ebony (£4,399 / ₹4.62 lakh) and Candy Lime Green with Metallic Spark Black (£4,299 / ₹4.51 lakh).
Engine and Performance
Both motorcycles are powered by a 125cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that delivers 15 hp at 10,000 rpm and 11.7 Nm of torque at 7,700 rpm. This setup, paired with a lightweight trellis frame, ensures agile handling and predictable performance, striking the right balance for learners without overwhelming them.
Features and Design
The Ninja 125, with its fully faired bodywork and supersport ergonomics, leans into Kawasaki’s sportbike styling. It also offers an Ergo-Fit seat option for taller riders. The Z125, by contrast, channels Kawasaki’s Sugomi design philosophy with its aggressive naked styling and the option of a lower Ergo-Fit seat. Shared features include 17-inch alloy wheels, a digital instrument cluster, ABS-equipped disc brakes, 37mm telescopic forks, and a Uni-Trak rear suspension system, ensuring both practicality and modern rider aids.
Beginner-Friendly Approach
With a kerb weight under 150 kg, a manageable 785 mm seat height, and smooth power delivery, both the Ninja 125 and Z125 are tailored to instill confidence in new riders. Their approachable ergonomics and responsive handling make them excellent choices for those entering the A1 licence category.
