Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo Unveiled as a Pure-ICE Track Monster

Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy: Amid tightening global emission regulations, Lamborghini continues to celebrate its racing legacy with the unveiling of the Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo – a pure internal combustion engine (ICE) racecar developed exclusively for its Super Trofeo one-make series. This track-focused beast proudly forgoes electrification, staying true to the brand’s raw performance DNA. A road-legal version of the Temerario Super Trofeo is also reportedly in development.

Replacing the legendary Huracán Super Trofeo in 2027, the new model joins the Temerario GT3 – unveiled earlier in July 2025 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Together, these models represent the next generation of Lamborghini’s motorsport evolution, emphasizing aerodynamic efficiency, mechanical purity, and power dominance.

Performance and Powertrain of the Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo

The Temerario Super Trofeo is built on a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration, engineered for maximum track engagement. Unlike the street-legal version equipped with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), this race version uses a 6-speed sequential gearbox designed for rapid shifts and weight optimization. The elimination of the front-mounted electric motor layout ensures uncompromised balance and handling.

Powering the Super Trofeo is Lamborghini’s new twin-turbocharged V8 engine, replacing the iconic V10 found in the Huracán and Gallardo racecars. Under Balance of Performance (BOP) regulations, the Temerario Super Trofeo delivers a formidable 641 horsepower – outperforming the GT3 version’s 577 hp. This makes it one of the most potent race cars ever built by Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse division.

Design, Interior, and Technology: Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo

The Temerario Super Trofeo takes the already aggressive road-going design to a new extreme, boasting functional aerodynamics that optimize downforce and cooling efficiency. The front fascia features a large splitter, redesigned grille, and enhanced hood scoops and fender vents. Broader side skirts, flared rear arches, and a massive rear diffuser add both visual drama and aerodynamic benefit. Of course, the centerpiece remains its colossal rear wing, purpose-built for superior track stability.

Lamborghini confirms that the racecar includes a fully integrated FIA-compliant roll cage for safety, seamlessly built into the lightweight chassis. Although full interior details remain under wraps, the dashboard is covered in Dinamica Infinity – a 100% PES mono-component, non-woven suede that combines durability with race-ready minimalism.

Additional performance hardware includes a Capristo exhaust system, BMC performance air filters, and KW adjustable suspension. The car also features a 12-point adjustable traction control system for variable grip management across race conditions.

These upgrades collectively reduce the car’s overall weight dramatically. The GT3 variant is approximately 400 kg lighter than the street-legal Temerario, and the Super Trofeo is expected to achieve similar or even greater power-to-weight gains, enhancing agility and acceleration on the circuit.

Lamborghini’s lineup has traditionally favored all-wheel-drive (AWD) performance, but recent models such as the Huracán EVO RWD and Huracán STO showcased the brand’s growing interest in pure rear-wheel-drive (RWD) dynamics. While the Temerario Super Trofeo itself is not street-legal, there is strong speculation that a road-going RWD version could be announced soon.

Insiders suggest Lamborghini is exploring new non-hybrid, rear-wheel-drive variants for its flagship models – potentially leading to a stripped-down base model or a track-focused STO edition designed for enthusiasts seeking raw, unfiltered driving experiences. This would align with the brand’s goal of offering both hybrid innovation and traditional ICE purity in its future lineup.

Conclusion: A Glimpse of Lamborghini’s Racing Future

The Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo represents the pinnacle of Lamborghini’s motorsport engineering – a pure-ICE, track-only powerhouse built to dominate racing circuits while staying true to the brand’s roaring combustion heritage. With an expected road-legal variant on the horizon, the Temerario nameplate could soon become a symbol of the perfect balance between race technology and street performance.

As Lamborghini moves into a hybrid-dominated era, the Temerario Super Trofeo stands as a bold statement – a celebration of mechanical purity and a reminder that the spirit of Italian racing remains alive and untamed.
