  • 9 Apr 2025: Toyota now offers six airbags as standard across all variants of the Hyryder. Earlier, the entry-level variants only got dual airbags.

Positives:

  • The 91bhp/122Nm three-cylinder petrol engine works alongside a 79bhp/141Nm electric motor using a lithium-ion battery and an eCVT transmission.
  • The hybrid Urban Cruiser Hyryder pulls smoothly from a standstill, thanks to the EV mode.
  • The instant response is appreciated when performing quick overtakes at city speeds or when pulling away from traffic at highway speeds.
  • It returned 17.7kmpl in the city and an impressive 27.38kmpl on the highway in our fuel efficiency tests.
  • There is a smooth transition of power between petrol and electric modes, delivering an effortless driving experience.
  • It has adequate overtaking capabilities which are displayed in the 20-80kmph and 40-100kmph roll-on accelerations that took 7.55 and 9.21 sec respectively.

Negatives:

  • The acceleration test of 0-100kmph takes 12.4 sec, it does not have the outright power of a diesel or a four-cylinder petrol engine.
  • Although the driving experience of this hybrid variant is effortless, it is far from being exciting or engaging.
  • The ride quality is harsh over broken roads and it does not feel settled when driving over wavy road surfaces.
