For the 2025–2026 academic cycle, Indian business schools have delivered a strong showing across both domestic and international ranking frameworks. Prestigious institutions including the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), along with select private schools, have secured positions in the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking, QS Global MBA Rankings, and India’s official NIRF Management Rankings.
While global rankings often reward international exposure, alumni mobility, and salary outcomes, national rankings place greater emphasis on teaching quality, research output, inclusivity, and peer perception. This explains why some institutions excel domestically but remain underrepresented globally, and vice versa.

Why Rankings Differ: National vs Global Perspectives
The contrast across rankings highlights how different methodologies shape outcomes. Institutions like iit delhi (DMS) and IIM Mumbai perform exceptionally well in NIRF due to strong domestic impact and academic metrics, yet remain absent from global lists due to limited international exposure.
Conversely, globally oriented schools like the Indian School of Business may not appear in NIRF’s top 10 but continue to command strong positions internationally. Together, these rankings offer a comprehensive picture of India’s evolving MBA ecosystem—one that balances domestic excellence with growing global ambition.
