Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the launch of the Viksit Delhi CM internship Program, selecting 87 students out of nearly 9,000 applicants. The three-month internship offers a Rs 20,000 monthly stipend and hands-on experience in governance and policymaking.
Internship Selection and Screening Process
According to Rekha Gupta, the program received close to 9,000 applications, of which 87 candidates were shortlisted through a transparent screening process. She emphasized that, for the first time, Delhi’s youth are being given a structured platform to participate directly in government work and contribute to shaping the city’s future.
Benefits of the Viksit Delhi CM Internship Program
The Chief Minister highlighted that the initiative benefits both students and the government. While interns gain practical exposure to public administration, the government gains access to fresh ideas, youth perspectives, and innovative problem-solving approaches.
“This process of learning is two-way. Young minds will bring new insights while also gaining first-hand administrative experience. Together, we aim to transition towards data-driven governance, smart decision-making, and paperless administration,” Gupta said.
A Milestone in Youth-Government Engagement
Calling the program a turning point for Delhi’s governance model, Rekha Gupta stressed that it bridges the gap between youth and policymaking. The initiative, which officially begins this week, is expected to inspire more young people to contribute to governance and civic development.
