According to LinkedIn India country manager Kumaresh Pattabiraman, working professionals should avoid defining themselves solely by their job titles and instead concentrate on developing flexible skills that may change with the times.
While acknowledging that Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing the nature of jobs, he emphasized that workers are not being displaced on a large scale.
As a professional today, he advised, “it would be wise to think of your job as a set of highly-adaptable, evolving skills that will help you achieve something in the workforce, rather than as the exact title that you have.”
AI is reshaping jobs rather than replacing laborers.
Professionals need to be open-minded and willing to consider new positions, vocations, and even different regions, according to Pattabiraman.
He emphasized the importance of AI, community support, and flexibility in managing the current unpredictable environment. He emphasized that dynamic skills are becoming the new currency of employment and stated, “We do not see AI displacing workers at scale.”
LINKEDIN TOOLS TO SUPPORT JOB SEEKERS
LinkedIn has introduced new features designed to make it easier for job hunters to overcome obstacles.
According to Pattabiraman, “We have launched Job Match, which helps jobseekers focus their energies on positions where they are a great fit; in this way, we help them apply to jobs that they are more likely to hear back from.”
AI-powered coaching tools are also being offered to help young professionals prepare for high-stakes moments, including interviews, negotiations and appraisals.
An indication for the future of work is India.
With more than 16 crore users, India is LinkedIn’s second-largest and fastest-growing market. At the current pace, Pattabiraman said the country could soon become the largest market for professional networking platforms.
“By solving for India, we also solve for our 1.2 billion members globally,” he said, referring to India as the “signpost” for the global future of work.
THE YOUNG WORKFORCE HAS A SPECIAL CHANCE
In his reflection on evolving job trends, Pattabiraman compared the independence afforded to young professionals today with the inflexible career pathways promoted by previous generations.
“I feel, now more than ever, the young workforce entering the world of work has the opportunity to draw their own lines. They should use this time to think more widely,” he urged.
As economic volatility, geopolitical tensions and technological disruption reshape businesses, he stressed that resilience, continuous learning and creativity will define professional success in the AI era.
