The largest recruitment test is held in Uttar Pradesh, where 25 lakh people take the UPPET in two days

The state’s largest-ever preliminary eligibility test (PET) has been launched by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC).

The two-day exam on September 6 and 7 is expected to draw over 25.32 lakh applicants, making it one of the largest recruitment campaigns in the area.

Structure and Scope of the Exam

This year’s PET, a qualifying exam for Group C positions in government agencies, is being administered at 1,479 locations throughout 48 districts.

There are two shifts every day (10 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm), with each session serving over 6.33 lakh candidates.

The test scores are valid for three years and consist of multiple-choice questions intended to evaluate candidates’ aptitude, reasoning, and general knowledge.

LOGISTICS AND SECURITY

The government has put strict security measures in place. Every testing location is being monitored by CCTV connected to UPSSSC’s main control center, and the Special Task Force (STF) has been put on high alert.

There are also 1,479 centers operating in 48 districts, including important centers like Prayagraj, Meerut, and Lucknow.

Arrangements for transportation

The Railways and the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) have planned comprehensive transport arrangements to accommodate the large number of applicants.

With the deployment of more than 440 buses in areas like Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, and Mirzapur, UPSRTC has made sure that almost 2.2 lakh candidates have access to transportation.

They have assistance centers positioned at strategic depots and are open 24/7. In order to ensure orderly candidate arrivals, railways have implemented special holding spaces, drone and CCTV surveillance at stations like Gorakhpur, and additional rakes and backup coaches on alert.

READING FOR THE EXAM DAY

Candidates were advised to download their exam city slips to determine their centre location, followed by admit cards offering shift and venue details.

It is highly advised to arrive early for verification on the day, bring only the necessary paperwork, and adhere to center procedures.
