As excitement builds around BTS’ upcoming album, scheduled for release on March 20, Jungkook has offered fans a rare glimpse into his current lifestyle and mindset. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone UK, the global pop star spoke candidly about how his routine has evolved since completing his military service, with a renewed emphasis on health, discipline, and long-term consistency.
With BTS gearing up for its fifth full-length album and Jungkook simultaneously preparing for future solo projects, the singer said his daily life now revolves around self-care and structure. “I’m on a diet these days, eating only one meal a day,” Jungkook revealed. “Because of that, I really look forward to that one meal. I think about it all day—‘What should I eat today?’ And once I eat, I feel a sense of accomplishment.”
This strict dietary approach, Jungkook explained, is part of a broader commitment to improving his overall well-being as he enters an intense phase of musical activity. “I’m trying to focus more on my health,” he said, adding that regular exercise plays a central role in his routine.
Jungkook shared that he enjoys a variety of physical activities, including jogging, bowling, and badminton. “When I exercise, I like to focus solely on myself,” he noted. Rather than pushing himself to extremes, the BTS member stressed the importance of steady habits and balance, crediting consistency for helping him maintain both physical and mental strength.
Reflecting on how military service reshaped his outlook, Jungkook admitted that his relationship with time has fundamentally changed. “My perspective on time changed before and after my military service,” he said. “I now try to stay away from things that are bad for my body. I used to drink alcohol, but I’m trying to cut back. I want to cherish my time and use it better.”
He also highlighted the value of small, repeatable actions. “Consistently doing something small is far more important than making a big effort all at once,” Jungkook explained. “Every morning before showering, I do cardio, and I do the same before bed.” These habits, he said, have helped him feel grounded and in control of his day.
According to Jungkook, these changes extend beyond fitness. “These routines affect how I approach people and even food,” he said. “I feel confident and accomplished because I stick to my daily schedule.” Despite his immense fame and success, he acknowledged that self-care is still a learning process.
“To be honest, I don’t think I’ve gotten that close to myself yet,” Jungkook admitted. “But I realized I need to love myself and take better care of myself.” He described exercise and maintaining healthy habits as an important form of self-love.
Jungkook also reflected on how his time in the military reignited his passion for music. “While I was in the military, I couldn’t work on music even if I wanted to,” he said. “That’s when I missed it more and thought, ‘I want to make even better and cooler music.’” The forced pause, he believes, strengthened his creative drive.
Looking ahead, Jungkook expressed excitement not only about BTS’ group activities but also his individual goals. “I’m excited about my solo activities too,” he said, revealing a desire to improve his street dancing skills and deepen his understanding of dance. “I’ve always pursued change. I want to be an artist who creates trends, not one who just follows them.”
Emphasizing artistic freedom, Jungkook added, “I don’t want to be confined. I want to be an artist without limits.” His words reflect a broader vision as BTS enters a new chapter, blending maturity, experimentation, and renewed ambition.
Ahead of their March comeback, BTS further fueled fan anticipation by sharing handwritten messages with ARMY. “I longed for this more than anyone,” RM wrote, while Jungkook added, “Miss you! Looking forward to this year as well.” He concluded by saying, “I’m really looking forward to the next album, activities with the members, and meeting ARMY again.”
