Coolie Box Office Collection Day 1: In recent years, only a select few films—such as Pathaan, Gadar 2, and Leo—have had successful premieres because of the enormous fan bases of their main stars. Given that Shah Rukh Khan, Sunny Deol, and Vijay co-starred in those films, it makes sense. However, Rajinikanth has yet again demonstrated that his mere presence in a movie is enough to have the ticket booths hopping. Coolie, his most recent project, had a huge opening day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s India net collection on day one closed at Rs 65 crore, making it the superstar’s biggest domestic opening day of his career. The movie grossed Rs 170 crore worldwide, according to trade analyst Ramesh Bala.
There is no greater beginning to the theatrical run of director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ensemble action thriller. The movie outperformed two of his own LCU’s (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) three flicks. On its first day, his movie Kaithi made Rs 6.4 crore, whereas Vikram, starring Kamal Haasan, made Rs 37.5 crore. The only film that Coolie couldn’t surpass was Leo, starring Vijay, Trisha Krishnan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Sarja. The 2023 film made an impressive Rs 76.2 crore on its first day and went on to make Rs 341 crore. Even though Coolie couldn’t beat Leo’s opening, it did leave behind several of Rajinikanth’s previous films.

These include TJ Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan (Rs 31.5 cr), Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer (Rs 48.35 cr), Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta (Rs 14 cr), and S Shankar’s 2.0 (Rs 23 cr). Coolie has miraculously blown all of these opening day numbers out of the water, even though Jailer is really going for the fences. It’s important to keep in mind that Coolie achieved this feat while another big film released on the same day, also with a ‘pan-India’ target audience. Ayan Mukerji’s high-octane War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, opened to poor reviews, but the film still collected Rs 52 crore by the end of its opening day. As the films move forward in their theatrical run, it will be interesting It’s important to keep in mind that Coolie achieved this feat while another big film released on the same day, also with a ‘pan-India’ target audience.
With an average occupancy rate of 86.99%, Coolie’s occupancy rates held steady throughout the day. The evening and night performances ended strongly with 86.57% and 94.32%, while the morning and afternoon shows had rates of 81.95% and 85.13%.
