During a speech in Nardiganj, Bihar, former Nawada MLA Rajballabh Yadav sparked controversy by calling RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav‘s wife a “jersey cow” and questioned why Tejashwi did not marry within his own tribe.
Rajballabh criticized his former party colleague, saying, “A community daughter would have benefited if he had married a Yadav girl. As like she were a jersey cow, he brought someone from Haryana, Punjab instead.
The RJD Women’s Wing in Nawada organized protests to voice their opposition of these statements. They demonstrated their rage and disappointment by burning an effigy of Yadav and yelling anti-Yadav slogans at Sadbhavna Chowk.
Protesters marched from the district RJD headquarters under the leadership of Renu Singh, the RJD Women’s Wing’s Nawada district chairperson. Singh stated, “By calling Tejashwi Yadav’s wife Rajshree a Jersey cow, former minister Rajballabh Prasad has insulted not just her, but the entire womanhood. This will not be tolerated.”
“India will not tolerate the insult of women,” the demonstrators continued to chant.
Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) member Rajballabh Yadav has a contentious past. He was expelled from the party after being imprisoned in 2016 for a case involving the rape of a minor. He was been exonerated of these accusations by the Patna High Court, nevertheless.
Days after disparaging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during Rahul Gandhi’s Congress-led “Voter Adhikar Yatra” in the state, Bihar is set to go to polls.
In the widely shared video, Congressmen were heard disparaging PM Modi from the dais, which featured posters of Tejashwi Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka.
