BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia Wishes Team India Luck Ahead of Pakistan Clash

Before team India’s match against Pakistan, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Secretary Devajit Saikia wished them luck and stated that their victory would be a fitting response to all the forces fighting against the nation. On Sunday, April 14, India and Pakistan will face off at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

BCCI Faces Criticism Over Playing Pakistan After Terrorist Attack

The BCCI’s decision to play with Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist assault, which killed 26 civilians, has drawn strong criticism from supporters ahead of the match. In response to the criticism, Devajit Saikia defended the BCCI’s position, stating that they are playing against their fiercest rivals in accordance with the Indian government’s new sports policy.

BCCI’s Statement on Sports Policy and Spirit of the Game

“The BCCI wishes the Indian cricket team the best of luck in their match tomorrow. They will try their hardest to win the game so that it will serve as a fitting response to all of the incidents that we would prefer to forget for a long time. Even still, India must play a nation with which we have a strained relationship. However, in accordance with Indian government policy, we still have to participate in international tournaments,” Saikia told India Today.

Additionally, he described how the board has ensured that its activities do not conflict with the players’ interests. “Therefore, it would be against the spirit of the game if we didn’t play in an international event. We compete in all international and multinational tournaments and completely respect the spirit of the game to ensure that nothing happens that would be detrimental to our athletes’ interests and our diverse range of sports,” he continued.

Possible India vs Pakistan Clashes in Asia Cup 2025

There is a chance that India and Pakistan would face each other three times during the 2025 Asia Cup. They will probably play each other again in the Super 4 stages on September 21 after their group stage match on September 14. They may also meet in the final. Meanwhile, ahead of the first fixture between the two teams, the tickets are yet to be sold out for the high-voltage clash.
