Chhattisgarh Horror: Son Allegedly Kills Father With Axe in Ambikapur, Dumps Body in Water Tank and Eats Biryani

A shocking and disturbing incident has emerged from Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, where a man allegedly killed his father with an axe following a heated family argument on the night of Holika Dahan. After the alleged murder, the accused reportedly dragged the body to a nearby water tank, disposed of it, calmly ate biryani from a local shop, and went to sleep as if nothing had happened.

The accused was arrested by the police the same night, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crime is currently ongoing.

HOLIKA DAHAN NIGHT: FAMILY ARGUMENT ENDS IN MURDER

The tragic incident took place late at night in Ambikapur town. According to police sources, the accused has been identified as Prabhat Kerketta, also known as Leda. The victim, Paras Kerketta, approximately 50 years old, was his father.

Although father and son lived separately, their homes were located just a few rented properties apart. Neighbours confirmed that the two had a strained relationship and often argued over personal matters.

On the evening of Holika Dahan, at around 11 p.m., Prabhat allegedly returned home intoxicated. His father reportedly objected to his condition and reprimanded him. What initially began as a scolding soon escalated into a heated verbal altercation.

In a fit of rage, Prabhat allegedly picked up an axe that was kept inside the house and repeatedly attacked his father, striking him on the head multiple times. Paras Kerketta sustained critical injuries and died on the spot, according to police officials.

BODY DUMPED IN WATER TANK AFTER MURDER

Investigators revealed that after allegedly committing the crime, the accused dragged his father’s body and placed it inside a small water tank located near the house. Authorities believe the act was an attempt to conceal evidence.

In a chilling sequence of events, police said that after disposing of the body, Prabhat went to a nearby shop, purchased biryani, ate it quietly, and then returned home. He reportedly covered himself with a blanket and went to sleep.

The calm behavior displayed after the alleged murder has shocked local residents and investigators alike.

Later that night, police detained Prabhat and took him into custody. During initial questioning, he reportedly admitted to attacking his father in anger following the argument.

RELATIVE SPEAKS OUT

Rakesh Pradhan, a relative of the deceased, confirmed the tragic sequence of events. “He was my brother-in-law. At night, the younger son murdered his father and dumped the body into the tank beside the house. The younger boy was taken away by the police that same evening,” he stated.

Family members and neighbours expressed disbelief over the brutal nature of the crime, especially since it occurred on a festive occasion.

POLICE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

The investigating officer from the local police station stated, “The son attacked his father on the head with a sharp weapon. The father died on the spot. We are currently investigating all aspects of the case.”

Police officials are now examining the background of the family dispute, possible history of conflicts, and whether alcohol played a significant role in triggering the fatal altercation.

Forensic teams visited the crime scene and collected evidence from the house and surrounding area. Photographs from the scene reportedly show police examining the water tank and taking the accused into custody.
