Just a day after a devastating car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort claimed ten lives, a chilling web of terror involving radicalized doctors has begun to unravel. Authorities have traced nearly 2,900 kilograms of bomb-making materials and ammonium nitrate recovered on the morning of the attack to Dr. Mohammad Umar, the suspected suicide bomber, and his associates Dr. Muzammil Shakil and Dr. Abdeel Ahmad Rather – all members of what investigators are calling the Faridabad module.
Investigators have also identified a woman doctor, Shaheen, linked to the same module. She reportedly used Dr. Shakil’s car and was allegedly in charge of Jaish-e-Mohammed’s women’s wing in India. This connection further strengthens the suspicion of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) involvement in the blast.
At the heart of the entire network lies the Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences & Research Center in Faridabad, where most of the detained doctors, including Drs. Shakil and Shaheen, were employed. This institution is now under the scanner for potential extremist recruitment and indoctrination activities.
Authorities believe Dr. Umar may have executed the attack impulsively following the arrest of his close associate, Dr. Shakil – considered the main accused in the Faridabad module. The Red Fort blast sent shockwaves through the historic Chandni Chowk area, with the explosion powerful enough to hurl car parts nearly 150 meters away and shatter nearby streetlights.
Key Developments in the Delhi Blast Case
- Investigation Transferred to NIA: The Ministry of Home Affairs has handed over the Delhi Red Fort blast case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), officially treating the explosion as a suspected act of terrorism that has so far claimed ten lives.
- Timeline of Events: According to official reports, the Hyundai i20 used in the blast entered Delhi via the Badarpur toll booth at 8:04 a.m. on November 10, coming from the Faridabad side. The vehicle was tracked passing through Darya Ganj, Kashmere Gate, and Sunehri Masjid before reaching the Red Fort area.
- Moment of the Explosion: At 3:19 p.m., the car entered a parking area near the Red Fort and Sunehri Masjid. CCTV footage shows the car exiting at 6:22 p.m., moments before the explosion occurred outside the Red Fort Metro Station just before 7 p.m.
- Casualty Details: One of the victims was found hanging from a tree due to the sheer force of the blast. Another deceased individual, Amar Kataria, was identified by distinctive tattoos reading “Mom,” “Dad,” and “Kriti.”
- Vehicle Trail Under Probe: The Hyundai i20 used in the blast was recently purchased on October 29, with its pollution under control (PUC) certificate updated the same day. These records have become critical evidence in tracing the network’s movements and funding sources.
- Medical Professionals Under Suspicion: The Faridabad Police Crime Branch has interrogated three additional doctors from Al-Falah University. In Jammu & Kashmir, following the recovery of an AK-47 rifle from a doctor’s locker at GMC Anantnag, several hospitals and medical colleges have issued security advisories.
- Radicalization Network Uncovered: Investigations have revealed that Maulvi Irfan, a former paramedical staff member and ex-Imam at GMC Srinagar, played a major role in radicalizing medical students and connecting them to extremist ideologies.
- Jaish-e-Mohammed Link Confirmed: All three suspects are believed to have strong ideological affiliations with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), forming the core of the Faridabad-Delhi terror module.
- Heightened Security Measures: Security has been tightened across the national capital. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have launched extensive anti-sabotage checks at all major railway stations to prevent further attacks.
Investigators are piecing together every fragment of evidence, from the vehicle’s trail to communication patterns between the accused. The emergence of radicalized medical professionals linked to terror groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed has raised serious concerns about extremist infiltration within educational and Healthcare institutions.
The NIA investigation is expected to shed light on whether this module acted independently or under direct orders from Pakistan-based handlers. With every new revelation, the Delhi Red Fort blast appears to be part of a much larger and more dangerous network of indoctrination, planning, and execution.
