The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday detained four more individuals closely linked to Umar Un Nabi, the prime suspect accused of driving the i20 vehicle that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, resulting in the death of 12 people so far. The blast, which shook one of India’s most iconic heritage sites, continues to prompt a high-intensity National Security investigation.

According to officials, the four detained individuals had earlier been picked up by Jammu and Kashmir Police and have now been taken into NIA custody in Srinagar following production orders issued by the District Sessions Judge, Patiala House Court. They are believed to be key contributors to the conspiracy behind the attack.

An NIA spokesperson confirmed the identities of those detained: Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganai from Pulwama, Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather from Anantnag, Dr. Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow, and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay from Shopian. “NIA investigations have revealed that all four played significant roles in the terror act that claimed multiple innocent lives and injured many others,” the spokesperson said.

Jammu and Kashmir Police had earlier detained Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay on October 27, Dr. Muzammil on October 29, and Dr. Adeel Ahmed on November 5. These arrests followed the discovery of their involvement through multiple investigative leads.

“The investigation began with the analysis of posters, where the name of Dr. Muzammil, a doctor working in Faridabad, emerged. His detention subsequently led to the identification of another doctor, Dr. Adeel, who was working at a private hospital in Saharanpur,” a source revealed. This chain of information brought investigators closer to unravelling the network associated with the attack.

The NIA also stated that its teams had earlier arrested two other key accused — Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, who provided technical support to the terrorist involved in the blast, and Amir Rashid Ali, in whose name the car used in the explosion was registered.

The spokesperson added that the anti-terror agency, which took over the case soon after the Union Home Ministry assigned it, is “working in close coordination with multiple state police forces to identify, track, and arrest every individual linked to the terrorist module responsible for the carnage.”

The Red Fort explosion investigation continues to widen as officials trace financial links, logistical support networks, and potential international connections behind the attack.
