Eight Detained for Alleged Terror Plot in India; Links to Bangladesh-Based Extremists and Pakistan’s ISI Under Probe

Six of the accused — identified as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammed Ujjal — were apprehended from garment manufacturing units in the Tiruppur region of Tamil Nadu. Two additional suspects were detained from West Bengal as part of the coordinated operation conducted with assistance from local law enforcement agencies.

Preliminary findings indicate that several of the detained individuals are suspected Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly residing in India under false identities. Investigators claim counterfeit Aadhaar cards were recovered, which were purportedly used to conceal their real identities and facilitate local employment.

The suspects are being brought to Delhi for further interrogation and judicial proceedings as agencies expand the scope of the investigation.

“Free Kashmir” Posters Triggered Deeper Probe

The case gained momentum after provocative posters carrying “Free Kashmir” slogans surfaced in more than ten locations across Delhi, including within parts of the Delhi Metro network. The posters reportedly contained inflammatory references to Kashmir, raising concerns about coordinated propaganda efforts.

Following a detailed forensic and intelligence-based review of the posters’ origins, investigators traced the network’s operational footprints beyond Delhi, eventually uncovering the alleged Tiruppur-linked module.

Parallels with Previous Terror Modules

Security agencies have drawn comparisons between this case and a recent investigation involving a suspected module with alleged links to a university in Faridabad.
