Explosion on Third Floor of Rajasthan School, Two Students Escape Unhurt

An explosion inside a private school in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara city caused widespread panic early Saturday after a room on the third floor partially collapsed, officials said. The incident occurred at Arya Samaj Bal Vidya Mandir, a privately run educational institution.

According to preliminary information, the city was largely asleep when a loud explosion was heard around 4:00 am. The blast originated from a room on the third floor of the school building, leading to the collapse of parts of the roof and surrounding walls.

Household items kept inside the room, including a television set, an almirah, and other personal belongings, were severely damaged and buried under the debris following the explosion.

At the time of the incident, two girls were sleeping inside the room. Despite the sudden collapse of the structure, both managed to escape without sustaining any injuries. Residents and authorities described their survival as miraculous, given the extent of the damage.

Hearing the explosion, residents of nearby houses rushed out in panic and gathered around the school premises. The sudden noise and visible damage caused fear across the neighborhood in the early hours of the morning.

Police personnel from the City Kotwali police station reached the site shortly after receiving information about the blast. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was also summoned to examine the scene and determine the cause of the explosion.

Officials said the exact reason behind the blast remains unclear. Notably, two gas cylinders found inside the room were discovered to be completely intact, ruling out, at least initially, the possibility of a gas cylinder explosion.

A local resident, Ashok Jeengar, recounted the incident, saying, “A loud explosion was heard around four to quarter past four in the morning. People rushed out after hearing the sound and entered the school premises. Furniture and household items were scattered outside on the road. When we went inside, we saw that the walls of the room had collapsed.”

He added that the two girls were immediately rescued and taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure, although they were found to be unharmed.

Investigation teams continue to remain at the site, and police officials said all possible angles are being examined to ascertain what triggered the explosion. Further details are expected once forensic reports are available.
