A tragic incident unfolded in Faridabad where a routine homeschooling session allegedly turned fatal after a man beat his four-year-old daughter to death for failing to complete a writing assignment, police officials said on Friday.
Following a complaint filed at the Sector 58 police station, the accused, identified as Krishna Jaiswal (31), was arrested. According to news agency PTI, he was produced before a city court and subsequently placed on one-day police remand for further investigation.
Jaiswal, a resident of Kheratiya village in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district, had been living with his family in a rented accommodation in Faridabad. Police said both Jaiswal and his wife were employed with private firms.
According to investigators, while the mother went to work during the day, Jaiswal remained at home to take care of the children and supervise his daughter’s studies.
The incident occurred on January 21. Police stated that Jaiswal asked the child to write numbers from one to fifty. When the girl was unable to complete the task, he allegedly lost his temper and assaulted her, inflicting injuries that proved fatal.
The matter came to light later that evening when the child’s mother returned home from work and found her daughter unresponsive. She immediately informed the police.
A police team rushed to the spot after receiving the information and took custody of the child’s body. A postmortem examination was conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
“A case has been registered, and the accused has been placed on police remand for further investigation. After the postmortem was completed, the body was handed over to the family,” a senior Faridabad Police official said.
