In Rajkot, Gujarat, two people were detained for sexually abusing children

A serious case of alleged sexual assault of two minors has come to light in Gujarat‘s Rajkot, where police have arrested two accused after a video of the abuse surfaced on Social Media.

Police claim that over the course of over three months, the accused, Jayesh Majethia and Sandeep alias Lala Patel, molested two juveniles, ages 14 and 16, at a city school’s residential complex.

The grandmother of one of the victims filed a complaint, which resulted to the case being lodged at the A Division police station. Police said an FIR has been lodged under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.

The victims are both hailing from Nepal. A 50-year-old lady who works as a domestic helper in Rajkot filed a complaint, claiming that the accused came into touch with the youngsters while they were hired for tasks involving the cleaning of water containers.

The complaint alleges that the accused repeatedly assaulted the minors and also threatened them when they resisted. It also claims that the accused utilized cell phones to capture the abuse, which subsequently went viral on social media.

Authorities characterized the situation as serious and stated that additional research is being done to determine every detail of the incident.

Police performed medical age verification at a civil hospital since the victims lacked birth certificates. One of the victims was between the ages of 14 and 17, according to the article. Police have registered a case against both accused under Sections 351 and 54(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and various provisions of the POCSO Act, and have initiated further investigation.
