Indian Army Showcases Indigenous AI Systems Including XFace and Nabh Drishti at AI Impact Summit

In a significant step toward strengthening India’s technological self-reliance and digital security architecture, the Indian Army unveiled a wide range of indigenous, dual-use Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions at the prestigious AI Impact Summit. The showcase reflects the Army’s accelerating transition into a data-centric, AI-enabled force aligned with the national vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and secure digital capacity building.

The development was formally shared by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) at the Ministry of Defence’s Integrated Headquarters. The presentation not only highlighted cutting-edge military capabilities but also emphasized how these innovations can serve civilian sectors such as Education, disaster response, logistics, Cybersecurity, and governance.

Indigenous AI Systems Strengthening Defence and Civil Preparedness

One of the key platforms presented was SAM-UN, a geospatial situational-awareness system designed to enhance mission planning, disaster response coordination, and smart command center operations. By integrating real-time spatial intelligence, SAM-UN enables faster decision-making during both combat scenarios and natural calamities.

The Army also introduced AI Examiner, an automated evaluation and feedback platform aimed at modernizing training and educational assessment frameworks. This system can streamline evaluation processes, enhance learning analytics, and improve training efficiency across institutions.

Advanced Disaster Prediction and Secure AI Cloud Infrastructure

Among the most impactful innovations is PRAKSHEPAN, an AI-driven climatology and disaster prediction system capable of issuing early alerts for avalanches, floods, and landslides. Given India’s vulnerability to climate-related disasters, such predictive capabilities can significantly enhance preparedness and response mechanisms for both defence forces and civil authorities.

Another cornerstone initiative is EKAM, a secure indigenous AI cloud platform built to ensure data sovereignty. In an era where data security is Paramount, EKAM provides a protected digital ecosystem for processing and storing sensitive information within national boundaries, reinforcing strategic autonomy.

The Army further showcased Nabh Drishti, a mobile telemetry-based real-time reporting and visualization platform that enhances operational transparency and command efficiency. Complementing this is XFace, a facial recognition-based security and identity verification system designed to strengthen access control and surveillance capabilities in sensitive installations.

AI-Powered Logistics, Fleet Management and Cybersecurity Solutions

Operational safety and logistical efficiency were also central to the presentation. The Army demonstrated an AI-enabled vehicle tracking system for intelligent fleet monitoring and optimization. This solution can reduce operational delays, improve route planning, and ensure better asset management across terrains.

The innovative AI-in-a-Box portable edge computing system allows deployment in remote and high-altitude regions where connectivity may be limited. Additionally, a driver fatigue detection system equipped with real-time drowsiness alerts aims to prevent accidents and improve transportation safety.

Recognizing the growing threat of digital warfare, the Army has developed AI-powered cybersecurity frameworks, including deepfake detection systems and advanced malware defense tools. These solutions are designed to counter synthetic media manipulation, cyber intrusions, and emerging digital threats targeting national infrastructure.

A Strategic Shift Toward an AI-Empowered Ecosystem

Describing the initiatives as a “decisive move toward a secure, networked, and AI-empowered ecosystem,” the Indian Army emphasized that these projects go beyond defence readiness. They are intended to strengthen national cybersecurity architecture, enhance disaster resilience, support smart governance, and contribute to India’s broader economic and technological growth.

From advanced surveillance and operational analytics to disaster prediction and secure cloud computing, the Army’s indigenous AI ecosystem demonstrates a comprehensive approach to modern warfare and nation-building. As India positions itself as a major digital power, such homegrown innovations underline the strategic importance of integrating Artificial Intelligence across both military and civilian domains.
