Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India’s approach toward its adversaries has transformed into one that is “decisive, strong, and visible to the entire world.”
Speaking at the grand celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), PM Modi highlighted that Operation Sindoor had made it abundantly clear that India possesses the capability and will to strike within enemy territory. “The world saw during Operation Sindoor that Bharat ghar mein ghus kar maarta hai—India strikes back inside enemy borders,” the Prime Minister declared. “This message is now well understood by Pakistan and terrorist handlers,” he added.
PM Modi Links India’s Security Vision to Sardar Patel
Connecting India’s robust defense strategy to Sardar Patel’s ideals of unity and national strength, Modi stated, “Today, Pakistan and its terrorist handlers know the true might of India. This is the result of a secure, united, and self-reliant nation envisioned by Patel.”
He further accused the congress of “forgetting Patel’s vision” and said the current government’s approach to both internal and external threats was guided by Patel’s legacy. “Before 2014, Naxalism had spread across large parts of India. Hospitals, schools, and colleges were attacked, and the government was helpless. We took a strong stand against urban Naxals, and now their influence is limited to just 11 districts,” Modi asserted.
Modi on Infiltration and National Security
PM Modi also warned about the dangers of infiltration, stating that it remains a serious threat to India’s unity and sovereignty. “Previous governments risked National Security for vote-bank politics. They didn’t care if the country was weakened,” he said. “Our government stands firm—we must remove every infiltrator living illegally in India.”
Reaffirming his commitment, he added, “When the nation’s identity and security are under threat, every citizen is at risk. It is our collective duty to safeguard Bharat’s integrity.”
Patel’s Legacy and the Spirit of Unity
Concluding his address, Modi invoked Sardar Patel’s timeless message of unity in diversity. “Diversity of thought must be respected in a unified India. Differences of opinion are possible, but there should never be differences of heart,” he remarked, emphasizing unity and inclusiveness as India’s true strength.
Before delivering his address, PM Modi administered the Ekta Diwas pledge to the gathered crowd and offered floral tributes at Patel’s 182-meter-tall Statue of Unity—the world’s tallest statue. Since 2014, October 31 has been celebrated as National Unity Day to honor Patel’s unmatched contribution to India’s post-independence integration.
