Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, said he had discovered a huge voter deletion scam that was affecting millions of people in India on Thursday. However, he refrained from revealing the “hydrogen bomb” of proof on the “vote chori” (stealing) accusations, stating that preparations were being made for it.

In his widely reported news conference on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi claimed that “some” individuals have been deleting millions of Indian votes. Rahul Gandhi continued by describing the attempt to remove all voters, claiming to have 100% proof of it.

Rahul Gandhi declared, “I will not say anything on this stage that is not supported by 100 percent proof,” but he later added that the hydrogen bomb was still a ways off.

-Rahul Gandhi cited example of Aland constituency in Karnataka to claim that someone tried to delete 6,018 votes. “The overall number of votes that were removed in Aland is unknown to us. It is significantly greater than 6,018. However, someone was apprehended. And it was caught like most crimes by a coincidence,” Rahul Gandhi alleged.

Rahul Gandhi used the example of a woman named “Godabai” to claim that these deletion attempts were intentionally targeting booths where the Congress party was winning. Rahul Gandhi asserted that someone tried to remove 12 voters by creating phony login credentials under Godabai’s name. “Godabai is clueless,” Rahul Gandhi remarked.

Rahul Gandhi shared cellphone numbers that were used to remove voters, claiming that they came from other states rather than Karnataka. Slides of “evidence” were playing on a screen in the background when Rahul Gandhi made the statements. “The question is, whose numbers are these and how were they operated, who generated the OTPs?” Rahul Gandhi stated.

Rahul Gandhi revealed a man named Suryakant who “apparently deleted 12 voters in 14 minutes,” citing “Example 2.” When Rahul Gandhi claimed, “Babita Choudhari is one of the votes that he is supposed to have deleted,” he forced Babita Choudhary and Suryakant to onto the stage.

-In the presentation, Rahul Gandhi gave another example of a man named Nagaraj, making it “humanly impossible” that two forms could be filled out in 38 seconds at 4:07 am. Please attempt to complete these forms and observe the time required. Rahul Gandhi remarked, “And I ask the young people of India, you’ll see the answer to these questions.”

Rahul Gandhi also claimed during the press conference that “someone” operated an automated program that made sure the applicant was the first voter in the booth and that the operation was carried out in a “centralised manner” using smartphones from outside the state. Rahul Gandhi asserted that it was a planned operation carried out at the call center level.

“The Karnataka CID has sent as many as 18 reminder letters to the Election Commission over the last year and a half, the last one dated September 2025, seeking information linked to the alleged voter deletion scam, the Congress leader claims,” Rahul Gandhi explained when asked why he was making such a direct accusation about chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He noted that officials claim the poll body has not responded substantively to repeated pleas.

-The letter started in February 2023 and was followed by reminders in March, August, and January of 2024. Rahul Gandhi stated during the conversation that the probe has essentially frozen since then because the EC has refused to provide the information that investigators are looking for. “The individuals who have ruined Indian democracy are being shielded by the country’s main election commissioner. Karnataka CID has written to the EC 18 times in 18 months for information on this (voter deletion), but they are not giving the information,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Rahul Gandhi’s previous news conference

This is the second news conference in Rahul Gandhi’s “vote chori” accusation series. In the first press conference on August 7, Gandhi claimed that the Election Commission (EC) was involved in a systemic manipulation and conspired with the BJP to facilitate vote theft.

Rahul Gandhi stated at the news conference on August 7 that the Congress has discovered extensive abnormalities in the electoral lists of the Mahadevapura assembly segment in Karnataka, which is a part of Bengaluru Central, following six months of investigation by a 40-person team.

In that constituency, Rahul Gandhi said there were more than one million fraudulent voter entries. as well as further irregularities such as thousands of fictitious voters, odd father names, house numbers, CCTV film destruction, and the EC’s reluctance to provide voter-related data.

He had asserted that elections in Maharashtra and Haryana were also rigged using identical techniques, proving that these anomalies were not just in Karnataka.
