In a significant development, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has withdrawn her petition before the Bombay High Court that sought permission to relax the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against her in a cheating and Fraud case. The decision follows the cancellation of her upcoming global appearance alongside American YouTuber and influencer MrBeast.
Trip with MrBeast Canceled Amid Legal Proceedings
Appearing before the division bench of Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam A. Ankhad, Shetty’s lawyers, Advocates Keral Mehta and Niranjan Mundargi, informed the court that the planned international engagement had been called off. “The organizers have now canceled the plan after recent reports and surrounding commentary. She was the only Indian actor invited to collaborate with MrBeast,” Mundargi stated during the hearing.
The development comes after weeks of courtroom deliberations, during which the bench raised concerns over Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra’s requests for international travel while under Investigation.
Court’s Earlier Observations on the Case
Earlier this month, the Bombay High Court had denied Shetty’s plea to visit Phuket, observing that such travel could not be classified as “leisure” while a criminal case was pending. The bench remarked that permission could only be considered if Shetty deposited a security amount of ₹60 crore — approximately equivalent to the alleged financial dispute in the case.
In a previous session, the judges also suggested that Shetty might consider providing her husband Raj Kundra’s approval for any international travel, given that both are named in the same investigation.
Next Steps and Upcoming Hearing on November 17
Following the cancellation of the MrBeast project, Advocate Niranjan Mundargi requested the court to expedite the hearing on Shetty and Kundra’s motion to revoke the LOC. The bench has now listed the matter for November 17 for further consideration.
The couple, according to their legal team, still plans to visit Dubai and London later this year to meet Kundra’s parents. Their lawyers informed the court that they intend to file a fresh application between December 20, 2025, and January 6, 2026, seeking permission for international travel.
Affidavit Dispute Raises New Legal Questions
During Thursday’s hearing, Advocates Yusuf Iqbal and Zain Shroff, representing the complainant, raised objections over an affidavit submitted by Shetty on October 14. They claimed that the affidavit was not legally notarized and that Shetty’s signature had not been verified by a notary public.
While Advocate Iqbal assured the court that he would present additional details in the next hearing, Mundargi informed the bench that he had not yet received instructions from his client regarding the affidavit concerns.
Understanding the Look Out Circular (LOC)
A Look Out Circular (LOC) is an alert issued to immigration authorities to prevent individuals under investigation or facing criminal prosecution from leaving India. It ensures that such persons remain available for questioning or trial and can be detained at airports or other points of departure if necessary. Typically, LOCs are sought by investigative agencies to secure the presence of accused persons during ongoing inquiries.
Ongoing Case and Future Implications
The ongoing legal proceedings against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra continue to attract public and media attention. Their long-delayed international travel plans have faced repeated setbacks due to the LOC, which remains in effect pending court orders.
With the November 17 hearing approaching, all eyes will be on the Bombay High Court’s decision regarding the couple’s request to revoke the Look Out Circular. For now, the cancellation of the MrBeast collaboration has once again placed Shetty’s overseas commitments in uncertainty.
