John Abraham may be well-known for his passion for motorcycles or his acting abilities. Who would have guessed that the actor also constructed one of India’s most renowned architectural residences? John’s sea-facing home, which is a minimalist tribute to simplicity, is situated on the eighth story of a Mumbai building.
“This is a very, very, very basic and very simple house,” he explains. As he walks through the living area, which has clean lines and “floor-to-ceiling glasses,” he continues, “And my philosophy is being basic and being simple, and show what you actually are.”
In addition to being adored by supporters, his house has received official recognition. According to the Indian Institute of Architectural Design, this house is the best one. It has been recognized as the best residence.
Abraham muses, “I wanted a dining area that reflects my philosophy of being close to nature,” as he guides us to the dining area. The whole frame of this dining table came from a single dead tree, which is why I have it. Thus, no logging was done for this.
Additionally, his gym prioritizes necessities above ostentatious equipment. “I do a lot of business out of… I have these lovely, basic equipment that crunch my abs. He demonstrates while laughing, “If I want to kill time, I just kill time like this.”
He also prioritizes necessities over ostentatious gadgets at his gym. “I work a lot out of this place. These are my wonderful, basic machines for pounding my abs. He laughs and makes a gesture, saying, “If I want to kill time, I just kill time like this.”
Additionally, he has a passion for sound, which most people wouldn’t identify with him. “To give you a quick overview of my interests, I adore speakers. I love music. I believe I have over fifty-two speakers in this whole house. And I adore sound that much.
His closet, which has a section dedicated to helmets, is another example of his personal archive. Every helmet has a signature. Valentino Rossi, who is, in my opinion, the best motorcycle rider in history, autographed this one.
A special favorite? Chess. Many people believe that riding a motorcycle, driving a car, or playing football are my favorite pastimes, but in reality, chess is my favorite game. And Viswanathan Anand gave me this [chess board] as a present.
His rooftop patio, perched high above the bustle of Mumbai, provides perspective and tranquility. “We are currently on the eighth floor, on the outskirts of my house.”
Above all, everything is anchored by simplicity. “I believe that a home should balance design and beauty.” It’s crucial that your house has a lovely, minimalist appearance. That is evident in everything I own because it is all rather basic. And simplicity, in my opinion, is more important in this than middle class.
“You can have any amount of money in the world,” he concludes, leaving you with a memorable thought. However, if you choose simplicity, that’s what’s most lovely. And your home’s architecture ought to reflect that.
