Before the Asia Cup T20I, Shreyas Iyer and Washington Sundar will compete for the final berth

The final selection on Tuesday is anticipated to be the main topic of conversation around the selection table, even though India’s T20 team has a more or less set structure with the majority of players holding onto their spots since the last T20I series. With players like shreyas iyer and washington sundar in the mix, it looks to be a fierce contest.

The question of who will be the fifteenth man is probably going to be up for debate.

According to sources, the selection committee will decide whether to choose Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, or Shreyas Iyer as a specialist batsman. They may even choose Washington Sundar, an all-around player.

Selectors need go no farther than Shreyas Iyer, who guided two different teams to the IPL finals in consecutive seasons, both with his leadership and with the willow, particularly against spin.

He can start the game and finish it, and he provides composure and game knowledge. Shreyas has developed a swagger of late and commands respect in whichever dressing room he finds himself in. It makes sense for the player who defined the previous IPL to be on the Indian T20 team.

However, considering the circumstances, selectors may decide to go with an all-around player. Washington Sundar did all that was asked of him in England – save a Test, hit some big blows in the company of the tail making the vital difference between defeat and a draw, while getting crucial wickets with his underrated off-spin. His skill-set would be useful in Dubai, and he was part of the side that won the ICC Champions Trophy there earlier this year. It helps that Gautam Gambhir is fond of depth, in both batting and bowling.

Is Rinku going to make it?

Rinku Singh is another name that is probably going to be mentioned. In both his IPL team and his appearances in India’s colors, he has been labeled a finisher, which frequently restricts the quantity of balls he encounters. It is uncommon for a player to win a match for his team by hitting five consecutive sixes in the last over. Although this extraordinary feat put him in the national spotlight, it has also labeled him an endgame player. Gambhir’s dislike of designating any player as a finisher on his team doesn’t help either.

Rinku Singh is another name that will probably be brought up. When he has played in India’s colors, he has also been labeled a finisher by his IPL team, which frequently limits the quantity of balls he encounters. Even while it put him in the national spotlight, his extraordinary feat of hitting five consecutive sixes in the final over to win a game for his team has labeled him an endgame player. The fact that Gambhir dislikes assigning any player to the finish line on his team doesn’t help either.

An outside contender is Riyan Parag who has been earmarked as a promising talent but has not quite delivered, at least not on a consistent basis. Although he has occasionally played for the Rajasthan Royals, he has not been known to win games for his team. The Assam player has a second string to his bow in the form of his part-time off-spin, but that’s usually good for only a couple of overs. In order to make a serious case for a place in the national team, selectors had been waiting for the 23-year-old to demonstrate maturity.
