‘This Is Embarrassing’: Geoff Schwartz Rips Nick Sirianni After Eagles Loss

Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles endured a difficult start to their preseason campaign, suffering a heavy 24-7 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday.

Although Philadelphia rested several key starters, former Kansas City Chiefs offensive guard Geoff Schwartz believed the lack of offensive production was still unacceptable. He highlighted the Eagles’ inability to consistently move the chains during the game.

Geoff Schwartz calls Eagles’ performance embarrassing

Schwartz acknowledged that Philadelphia did not use several of its starters but argued that the team’s offensive struggles could not simply be dismissed because of the lineup.

“I understand the Eagles didn’t play starters and blah blah blah. … But only 2 first downs late into the 4Q is embarrassing,” Schwartz wrote on social media.

The former NFL offensive lineman also pointed out that Philadelphia was not the only team resting starters during the preseason, making the Eagles’ lack of offensive execution more concerning.

Eagles struggle to move the football

Philadelphia finished the game averaging just 4.0 yards per play. The Eagles recorded only 89 passing yards and 76 rushing yards throughout the contest.

Super Bowl LIX champion Jalen Hurts did not play, leaving Tanner McKee, Cole Payton and Andy Dalton to share quarterback duties.

The Eagles struggled to generate meaningful offense for most of the afternoon and were unable to score until the final minutes of the game.

Ravens dominate before late Eagles touchdown

Baltimore built a commanding 24-0 lead during the game, with Ravens quarterback Austin Reed adding a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Philadelphia finally avoided a shutout with just over two minutes remaining. Rookie quarterback Cole Payton connected with wide receiver Erik Ezukanma for a six-yard touchdown, giving the Eagles their only points of the game.

Nick Sirianni enters another important season

Sirianni is entering his sixth season as the Eagles’ head coach. Philadelphia hired him in 2021 following Doug Pederson’s departure.

Under Sirianni, the Eagles have reached the playoffs in every season and appeared in two Super Bowls, winning the championship during the 2024 season.

Philadelphia also returned to the postseason last year after finishing first in the NFC East, although its campaign ended with a wild-card defeat to the San Francisco 49ers.

Eagles adjust after A.J. Brown trade

Philadelphia also enters the 2026 season without star wide receiver A.J. Brown, who was traded to the New England Patriots in June following discussions surrounding the Eagles’ offense.

Sirianni has expressed confidence in the team’s current receiving group and believes replacing Brown’s production will require a collective effort rather than relying on one player.

“We have a great room,” Sirianni said while discussing the Eagles’ receiving corps.

Eagles begin regular season against Commanders

The preseason loss will give Sirianni and his coaching staff plenty to evaluate before the games begin to count. Philadelphia will have opportunities to improve its offensive execution and assess its depth during the remainder of the preseason.

The Eagles will officially begin their 2026 regular-season campaign against the Washington Commanders on September 13 in a Week 1 NFC East matchup.
