Amazon has strengthened its smart display portfolio in India with the launch of two new devices — the Echo Show 11 and the fourth-generation Echo Show 8. Positioned as intelligent home companions, the new Echo Show models aim to simplify everyday routines by combining entertainment, smart home controls, and Alexa-powered assistance on a single screen.

New design and bigger displays

The most noticeable upgrade comes in the form of a refreshed design. Both the Echo Show 11 and Echo Show 8 feature edge-to-edge glass displays with slimmer bezels, giving them a cleaner and more premium appearance compared to previous-generation models.

The Echo Show 11 is equipped with an 11-inch Full HD display, while the Echo Show 8 Gen 4 sports an 8.7-inch HD screen. According to Amazon, the redesigned form factor delivers a larger viewing area without significantly increasing the footprint of the devices, making them suitable for kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms.

These displays are designed for all-day use, with vivid colours, sharp visuals, and adaptive ambient visuals that adjust based on lighting conditions in the room.

Smarter Alexa with advanced sensors

Beyond aesthetics, Amazon is positioning the new Echo Show devices as intelligent household assistants. Users can rely on touch controls or hands-free Alexa voice commands to manage calendars, create shopping lists, set reminders, control compatible smart home devices, or even follow recipes while cooking.

Powering these capabilities is Amazon’s custom AZ3 Pro silicon, paired with the new Omnisense sensor platform. Omnisense combines multiple inputs, including a 13-megapixel camera, microphones, ultrasound, Wi-Fi radar, accelerometer, and Wi-Fi Channel State Information (CSI), allowing Alexa to better understand what’s happening in a room.

This enables context-aware automation, such as turning lights on when someone enters a room or triggering temperature-based routines when a space gets too warm. All such routines can be configured through the Alexa app.

Improved audio and entertainment features

Audio has also received a major upgrade. Both Echo Show 11 and Echo Show 8 feature a new audio architecture with front-firing stereo speakers and a custom-built woofer, delivering richer sound for music and voice interactions.

Users can stream music, podcasts, and audiobooks from platforms such as Amazon Music, Spotify, apple Music, JioSaavn, and Audible, depending on their subscriptions. For video content, the devices support Prime Video and Netflix, while YouTube can be accessed via Amazon’s Silk browser.

Alexa can also be used to play workout videos, recipe tutorials, and other on-screen content, making the displays more versatile than traditional smart speakers.

Video calls, home monitoring, and privacy

Both devices come equipped with a 13MP camera that supports auto-framing and noise reduction, making video calls clearer and more natural. The Echo Show lineup also doubles as a basic home monitoring hub through the Drop In feature, allowing users to check in on family members or pets remotely.

Compatible security cameras and video doorbells can be connected, with support for viewing up to four live camera feeds simultaneously on the display.

Amazon has reiterated its focus on Privacy, noting that both Echo Show 11 and Echo Show 8 include physical microphone and camera on/off buttons, along with options to review or delete voice recordings via the Alexa app.

Alexa Plus support and availability in India

Amazon has confirmed that both new Echo Show devices are future-ready and will support Alexa+, its upcoming generative AI-powered assistant, once it launches in India. Alexa+ is expected to enable more natural conversations, handle complex multi-step requests, and proactively assist with tasks such as planning, smart home automation, and personalised recommendations. However, Amazon has not yet announced a timeline for the Alexa+ rollout in India.

Price and availability

The Echo Show 11 is priced at Rs 26,999, while the Echo Show 8 Gen 4 costs Rs 23,999. Both models are available in Graphite and Glacier White colour options.

Customers can purchase the new Echo Show devices via Amazon.in, Flipkart, and offline retail stores including Reliance Digital and Croma.
