GPT-5 AI Models: Characteristics and Accessibility GitHub Allegedly Leaked Before Launch

According to reports, OpenAI’s next AI model, GPT-5, has been leaked before it is even released. The models and some information about them were included in a since-deleted GitHub blog post, according to the report. Four varieties are allegedly mentioned in the post: the previously reported GPT-5 base model, the GPT-5 Mini, the GPT-5 Nano, and a new GPT-5 Chat that is allegedly intended for enterprise use. Furthermore, it has been stated that a GPT-5 Pro model will be made available to the company’s Pro members. Additionally, ChatGPT is rumored to receive an updated user interface.

According to reports, users on the free tier will be able to access GPT-5.

A GitHub blog post that unintentionally revealed multiple facts about the future GPT-5 models was discovered by TestingCatalog. It looks like the post has been removed, but not before users took screenshots and posted them to social media. Based on that, it appears that OpenAI is planning to release four variants of its next-generation frontier model.

According to reports, a Mini and a Nano version of OpenAI’s GPT-5 model will be released alongside the basic model. Although little is known about them, Mini probably provides lower latency response generation, and Nano might be made for local and edge deployments.

In addition, it has been alleged that references for GPT-5 Thinking and GPT-5 Chat have also surfaced. The former may be an application programming interface (API) offering that enables developers to modify the model’s thinking budget, though no specifics are available at this time.

According to the GitHub post that was removed, GPT-5 Chat is made for GitHub Copilot and will be more conversationally aware. The full description of the variant, according to The Verge, reads, “Designed for advanced, natural, multimodal, and context-aware conversations for enterprise applications.”

According to the article, all users will have access to the model, but with different constraints and rate limits. Those on ChatGPT’s free tier will reportedly get basic access to GPT-5, while Plus subscribers are said to get GPT-5 with “advanced reasoning” and higher limits.

Pro subscribers will reportedly get a new variant dubbed GPT-5 Pro, as well as even higher rate limits. According to reports, members of the ChatGPT Team have access to both the GPT-5 Pro model and GPT-5 with reasoning.

According to a different leak posted by user @scaling01 on X (previously Twitter)

GPT-5 Pro may provide “research-grade intelligence.” The tipster discovered this description in the ChatGPT codebase. It’s still unclear how the feature will work in practical situations.

Additionally, TestingCatalog asserts that when GPT-5 is released, ChatGPT will undergo a revamp. A streamlined button that houses many activities and modes, a cleaner prompt bar, and new background colors are all reportedly included of the updated user interface.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed a new livestream on Thursday that will start at 10 am PDT (10:30 pm IST) in a post on X. While Altman did not reveal what would be announced during the livestream, he did highlight that it would be an hour-long presentation, longer than typical OpenAI showcases. Many expect the company to release GPT-5 during the show.
