Jason Miller, a political lobbyist, met with President Donald Trump and other officials in Washington amid a tariff dispute between the US and India. A few months ago, the Indian government hired a lobbying group led by Miller to advance its diplomatic outreach to the Trump administration.

Miller posted a picture from the White House and said he had a “fantastic week in Washington,” adding that the opportunity to “see our President in action” was the highlight of his trip.

The chance to visit and watch our President in action was the cherry on top of an amazing week in Washington with so many friends visiting! He posted a picture of himself with Trump on X along with the message, “Keep up the good work.”

Even though the meeting’s formal agenda has not yet been made public, the timing is crucial because trade relations between the US and India are currently being closely examined, with tariffs and bilateral economic plans once again being discussed.

Miller is a registered foreign agent who represents Indian interests in Washington and is a close confidant of Trump. Public filings indicate that Miller has advocated on behalf of the Indian government.

In April, the Indian government hired lobbying firm SHW Partners LLC, headed by former Trump adviser Jason Miller. The Indian government pays the firm a monthly fee of $150,000 for its services.

Regarding its one-year, $1.8 million contract with the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC, the firm announced on April 24 that it would “provide strategic counsel, tactical planning, and government relations assistance on policy matters before the US Government, the US Congress, state governments, academic institutions, think tanks, and any other relevant stakeholders as required.”

Jason Miller is who?

A seasoned veteran of Trump’s political campaigns, Jason Miller rose to prominence in 2016 as the president’s main media spokesperson.

After Trump won the 2016 election, Miller was supposed to take over the influential position of White House communications director. However, he was forced to drop out of consideration after it was alleged that he had an affair with and impregnated another Trump campaign official.

The concerned official has since accused him of rape and sexual assault.

Miller stayed in Donald Trump’s inner circle despite the controversy and returned to serve as a crucial adviser for Trump throughout his 2020 and 2024 presidential campaigns.

In 2020, Miller registered as a lobbyist using his recently established company, SHW Partners LLC.
