Tuesday saw the continuation of search and rescue efforts for a chopper carrying eight persons, including an Indian national, that vanished while flying over the island of Borneo in Indonesia.
According to Indonesian news agency Antara, the Estindo Air BK 117 D3 helicopter, which was carrying eight people—a pilot, an engineer, and six passengers—lost touch on Monday near the Mandin Damar Waterfall in Mentewe, South Kalimantan province.
According to the report, one of the passengers was Santha Kumar, an Indian national.
Captain Haryanto, Eng Hendra, Mark Werren, Yudi Febrian, Andys Rissa Pasulu, Claudine Quito, and Iboy Irfan Rosa were among the other passengers.
According to I Putu Sudayana, head of the Banjarmasin Search and Rescue Agency, the aerial search uses two helicopters working in shifts to ensure safety because the joint search and rescue team could be in danger if they are deployed simultaneously in the same location.
A ground team consisting of 140 individuals from several agencies and community volunteers has been sent in addition to the aircraft search.
According to the report, the joint team is working with air support to cover a search area of 27 square kilometers.
