In a sharp escalation of rhetoric, a youth wing leader of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League (PML) issued a direct warning to India on Tuesday, claiming that Pakistan’s military and missile capabilities would respond forcefully if Bangladesh were attacked or threatened. The statement comes amid heightened regional sensitivities surrounding India-Bangladesh relations.
Kamran Saeed Usmani, who identifies himself as a PML leader, made the remarks in a video message that has since circulated widely on social media platforms. In the video, Usmani also called for a formal military alliance between Pakistan and Bangladesh, a proposal that, if pursued, would represent a dramatic shift in South Asian geopolitics.
“If India attacks Bangladesh’s autonomy, if anyone dares to look at Bangladesh with ill intent, then remember that the people of Pakistan, the Pakistani armed forces, and our missiles are not far away,” Usmani said in his statement, adopting a confrontational tone.
The PML leader went on to allege that India is attempting to impose what he described as an “Akhand Bharat ideology” on Bangladesh. According to Usmani, Pakistan would not tolerate any effort to bring Dhaka under India’s ideological or political influence.
In another segment of the video address, Usmani reiterated that Pakistan opposes Bangladesh being forced into “India’s ideological dominance.” He warned that Islamabad would respond aggressively not only to a direct attack, but even to what he termed an “evil eye” cast on Bangladesh’s independence.
Usmani further claimed that Pakistan had previously placed India in a “difficult position” and suggested it could do so again if circumstances demanded. Expanding his remarks into a broader strategic scenario, he outlined a hypothetical alignment in which china maintains pressure on India in Arunachal Pradesh and ladakh, Pakistan applies force from the west, and Bangladesh creates pressure from the east.
The rhetoric escalated further in a separate video, where Usmani openly urged Pakistan and Bangladesh to enter into a formal military partnership. He accused India’s Border Security Force (BSF) of “disturbing” Bangladesh and alleged that New Delhi aims to dismantle Bangladesh as part of its so-called Akhand Bharat vision to establish a Hindu state.
“Our proposal is that Pakistan and Bangladesh should form a military alliance—Pakistan should set up a military base in Bangladesh, and Bangladesh should set up a military base in Pakistan,” Usmani stated, outlining what he described as a mutually beneficial security arrangement.
According to Usmani, such an alliance would allow both countries to establish military installations on each other’s territory. He further argued that linking Bangladesh’s ports with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would significantly enhance strategic and economic control in the region.
Emphasizing the importance of maritime influence, Usmani claimed that “those who control ports and seas rule the world.” He asserted that a Pakistan-Bangladesh military alliance, combined with port connectivity and strategic coordination, would fundamentally alter the balance of power in South Asia.
While Usmani’s remarks do not reflect any officially announced policy by the Pakistani government or military, the statements underline the increasingly provocative language being used by political figures amid regional tensions involving India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
