Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to travel to China later this week to participate in the seventh round of the Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, underscoring the continued depth of engagement between the two long-standing allies.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO), the high-level Strategic Dialogue will take place in Beijing on January 4 and will be co-chaired by Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Wang Yi, reflecting the close diplomatic coordination between Islamabad and Beijing.
In an official statement, the Foreign Office described the Strategic Dialogue as the highest consultative mechanism between Pakistan and China, providing a comprehensive and structured platform for both sides to review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation.
“The Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue is the highest consultative mechanism between Pakistan and China, offering a structured forum to assess bilateral relations in their entirety, as well as regional and international developments of mutual interest,” the FO said.
During the discussions, the two foreign ministers are expected to exchange views on political, economic, defence, and development cooperation, alongside evolving regional and global dynamics that impact both countries.
The visit will also carry symbolic importance, as both sides are set to launch a series of initiatives and commemorative activities marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China in 2026.
According to the Foreign Office, these initiatives are aimed at highlighting the enduring nature of the Pakistan–China partnership, often described by both governments as an “all-weather strategic cooperative relationship.”
The FO further noted that Ishaq Dar’s visit reaffirms the shared commitment of Pakistan and China to further deepen and expand their strategic cooperation, while working together to promote regional peace, stability, and sustainable development.
The upcoming Strategic Dialogue is expected to reinforce mutual trust and coordination at a time when both countries face complex geopolitical challenges and are seeking to strengthen regional connectivity, economic resilience, and diplomatic alignment.
