Trump Rejects Media Reports in Truth Social Statement
In a detailed post on Truth Social, the US president pushed back against what he characterized as misleading media narratives. Several reports had suggested that General Dan Caine advised against military action targeting Tehran amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Trump firmly dismissed those claims. “Numerous stories from the Fake News Media have been circulating stating that General Daniel Caine is against us going to War with Iran,” Trump wrote. “The story does not attribute this vast wealth of knowledge to anyone, and is 100% incorrect.”
The president’s remarks were aimed at countering speculation that divisions existed within his National Security team over how to approach Iran.
Background: What the Reports Claimed
Initial reports indicated that General Caine had adopted a more cautious tone during internal discussions about Iran policy. According to those accounts, he raised concerns about operational risks, potential US casualties, and the strain on American munitions stockpiles — particularly as resources continue to support Ukraine and Israel.
Some outlets also referenced comparisons to earlier operations, including a January raid in Venezuela, suggesting that the strategic landscape surrounding Iran would present different and potentially more complex challenges.
However, none of the reports explicitly stated that General Caine outright opposed military action. Rather, they described him as presenting a careful assessment of risks — a standard role for senior military leadership in advising civilian decision-makers.
Trump Asserts Alignment With Military Leadership
Despite the speculation, Trump emphasized that his top general remains aligned with the administration’s position. He made clear that while General Caine may prefer avoiding conflict, he stands ready to execute any decision made by civilian leadership.
“General Caine, like all of us, would like not to see War but, if a decision is made on going against Iran at a Military level, it is his opinion that it will be something easily won,” Trump stated.
The president further praised Caine’s leadership credentials, describing him as someone who “represents the Most Powerful Military anywhere in the World” and calling him a “Great Fighter.”
Trump added, “He has not spoken of not doing Iran, or even the fake limited strikes that I have been reading about, he only knows one thing, how to WIN and, if he is told to do so, he will be leading the pack.”
Commander-in-Chief Authority Reaffirmed
In his statement, Trump also underscored the constitutional structure of US military decision-making. He reiterated that as president and commander-in-chief, he holds the final authority over any military action.
“I am the one that makes the decision,” he said. While expressing a preference for Diplomacy, Trump signaled that military options remain on the table if negotiations fail. “I would rather have a Deal than not but, if we don’t make a Deal, it will be a very bad day for that Country.”
Rising Regional Tensions and Diplomatic Uncertainty
The president’s comments come at a time of heightened geopolitical tension in the Middle East. Ongoing hostilities and strategic calculations have fueled speculation about possible US military alternatives in response to Iran’s actions.
Adding to regional concerns, the US State Department announced that family members and non-emergency staff should depart from the US Embassy in Lebanon. The move reflects broader security considerations as Washington continues to evaluate diplomatic and military options.
As debates continue over the appropriate course of action, Trump’s remarks appear aimed at projecting unity within his administration and reinforcing confidence in America’s military leadership. The situation remains fluid, with diplomatic channels still open even as military preparedness stays firmly in focus.
