Trump to Be Briefed by Netanyahu on Possible New Strikes Against Iran: Report

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to raise serious concerns about Iran’s renewed ballistic missile activity during his upcoming meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on December 29 at Mar-a-Lago, according to a report by NBC News citing multiple informed sources.

Unlike previous high-profile warnings, Netanyahu’s approach this time is expected to be more strategic. Israeli officials reportedly want to ensure that Washington remains focused on Iran’s actions, particularly its military rebuilding efforts, rather than issuing dramatic public statements.

The discussions follow a brief but intense conflict earlier this year that lasted more than two weeks, during which Israel is believed to have significantly damaged Iran’s ballistic missile development infrastructure.

However, Israeli intelligence assessments now suggest that despite those setbacks, Iran has resumed and is accelerating missile production. Israeli sources claim Tehran is working to recover lost capabilities and strengthen its military posture.

According to individuals familiar with the preparations for the meeting, as well as several former U.S. officials briefed on the talks, Israel wants Trump to seriously consider existing military options if he determines that further action is necessary.

The NBC report also notes that Israeli officials believe Iran is attempting to rebuild nuclear enrichment facilities that were targeted by the United States in June during a short but significant military confrontation earlier this year.

Despite these concerns, Israeli sources indicate that Jerusalem currently views Iran’s efforts to restore weakened air defense systems and reconstitute ballistic missile production capabilities as the more immediate and pressing threats.

Addressing the issue, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated that both Iran and inspectors from the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog have confirmed the U.S. assessment that “Operation Midnight Hammer” effectively destroyed Iran’s nuclear capacity.

According to the report, Kelly emphasized that President Trump has been unequivocal on the matter, making it clear that Iran would be struck and stopped long before it could come close to developing a nuclear weapon.

As tensions continue to simmer in the Middle East, Netanyahu’s briefing is expected to play a key role in shaping Washington’s next steps on Iran, with military preparedness, deterrence, and long-term regional stability firmly at the center of the conversation.
