The first event to take place in the newly refurbished Rose Garden will be a dinner hosted by President Donald Trump for tech professionals on Thursday.
According to a White House official, Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman are anticipated to be on the guest list for Thursday’s event.
The dinner preparations, which coincide with first lady Melania Trump‘s rare public event at the White House on artificial intelligence, came together swiftly, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.
Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is scheduled to attend the Rose Garden dinner after speaking at the first lady’s midday event.
The president is looking forward to “welcoming top business, political, and tech leaders for this dinner,” the White House said in a statement to CNN, referring to the refurbished venue as the “Rose Garden Club.”

The White House’s Rose Garden Club is the trendiest spot in Washington, if not the entire world. The president looks forward to welcoming top business, political, and tech leaders for this dinner and the many dinners to come on the new, beautiful Rose Garden patio,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle said.
The president’s plans were initially reported by The Hill.
Weeks earlier, the president expressed to his advisors his desire for a clear, lovely day to mark his big Rose Garden debut.
In an effort to imitate the patio at Mar-a-Lago, where Trump enjoys al fresco meals on his weekends away from Washington, the Rose Garden has been cleared of its grass and covered with stone.

This summer, the president visited often with the orange-shirted workers who were breaking up the grass and strengthening the ground underneath. At one point, the president even invited them to take a picture in the Oval Office. The drainage grates are shaped like American flags, and presidential seals have been set into the stone.
CNN has observed the installation and testing of new lighting directed towards the Rose Garden on the West Wing’s roof in recent days.
Additionally, a consistent selection of music has been emanating from the Rose Garden via recently placed speakers.
Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman,” Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” and The Beatles’ “In My Life” have all been chosen recently.
