A video purportedly showing one of the women suicide attackers associated with the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has gone viral on Social Media, drawing widespread attention to the militant group’s recent tactics. The BLA, which is designated as a terrorist organisation by the United States, reportedly deployed women ‘fidayeen’ (suicide attackers) during a large-scale and coordinated assault in Pakistan’s Balochistan region.
According to information released by the banned outfit, images of at least two female attackers involved in the operation have been circulated by the group itself. One of these women is seen in the viral video carefully moving around what appears to be a building used by Pakistani security forces before opening fire in the direction of a soldier.
The footage shows the woman holding a large rifle and interacting with male members of the BLA. In the video, she appears relaxed and smiling, while making mocking remarks about the Pakistani government and security forces. The attackers are seen claiming that the state lacks the ability to confront the militant group.
Moments later, as gunfire can be heard in the background, the woman is seen cautiously approaching a corner before firing multiple shots. The video, which has not been independently verified, has sparked intense debate online due to the visibility of women participating directly in armed militant violence.
In the footage, the woman delivers a statement portraying the attack as part of what she describes as a struggle for Baloch “liberation.” She claims that fear is not driving Pakistan’s response, but rather an inability to counter the insurgents. She further states that Pakistani forces would now face Baloch women fighters, emphasising how difficult such a confrontation would be.
She is also heard urging the Baloch population to “awaken” and stand alongside Baloch fighters, asserting that there can be no compromise with what she calls the enemy. The video includes references to militants sacrificing their lives, while accusing some locals of allegedly spying on them for money.
The Balochistan Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated and deadly attacks across multiple cities and towns, including areas in Pakistan’s punjab province. These attacks reportedly began on Friday and continued into Saturday.
According to official figures, at least 50 people were killed in the violence, including a minimum of 17 Pakistani security personnel. In response, Pakistani security forces launched extensive counter-operations.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti stated on Sunday that security forces engaged in nearly 40 hours of operations and had killed close to 140 militants during the crackdown. Authorities continue to maintain that the situation is under control, while investigations into the attacks and the identities of those involved are ongoing.
The emergence of women in suicide attacks has added a new and troubling dimension to the long-running insurgency in Balochistan, underscoring the evolving tactics of militant groups and the continuing security challenges faced by Pakistan in the region.
