Fort Stewart is under lockdown due to an active shooting, and Army officials have verified that the incident is still ongoing and that there have been casualties.

There is an active shooter on the scene, according to law officials, and four individuals have been taken to the hospital. One suspect has been identified by the police.

The governor makes a statement after Fort Stewart is placed under lockdown.

The implementation of the lockdown at around 11:00 am was confirmed by WJCL 22. Because of the gunfire, army personnel have been sent to the airfield, which is situated along 144 off Sunberry Road in the 2nd Armored Brigade region.

One guy posted on X in response to the shooting: “Ft Stewart is in lockdown.” There’s my granddaughter. Offer up prayers for everyone who is in danger.

“As we remain in close contact with law enforcement on the ground, Marty, the girls, and I are saddened by today’s tragedy at Ft. Stewart,” Governor Brian Kemp wrote in a statement posted on X.

“We ask Georgians everywhere to keep the victims, their families, and everyone who responds to the call to serve in our hearts and prayers,” Kemp said.

The 3rd Infantry Division of the US Army at Fort Stewart

Fort Stewart is home to the US Army’s 3rd Infantry Division and is used as a training facility for both active and reserve Army personnel. About 40 miles southwest of Savannah, Georgia, is where it is located.

According to its website, the base is home to more than 10,000 people, including troops, family members, and civilian Army personnel.

Schools in Fort Stewart get a DOD advisory

Community Superintendent Brian Perry issued the following statement to Kessler Elementary School, Murray Elementary School, and Diamond Elementary School:

The commander of Fort Stewart has declared a lockdown, per a DOD advisory. Murray, Kessler, and Diamond Schools are currently under lockdown. There isn’t any immediate danger to the schools right now. “As soon as the all-clear is declared, we will send a message.”

Schools in Liberty County are on lockdown.

A “soft lockdown” has been imposed by Liberty County Schools in response to the active shooting at Fort Stewart.

At the moment, Button Gwinnett Elementary, Joseph Martin Elementary, and Snelson Golden Middle School are all on lockdown.
