
The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has officially opened applications for its Internship Programme 2026, providing students and recent graduates with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in policy research, governance, and public administration.
The internship is designed to promote academic engagement and research-based learning by involving participants in the Commission’s ongoing work related to Scheduled Tribes and policy development. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the NCSTGRAMS portal until June 18, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
Internship Overview
The programme aims to expose students to policy-related issues, governance mechanisms, and research activities carried out by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes. Selected interns will work closely with officers and officials on research, documentation, and policy-oriented assignments.
According to the official notification, approximately 10 interns will be selected during each intake. Depending on administrative requirements, interns may be assigned either to the NCST Headquarters or one of its Regional Offices across India.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in applying for the NCST Internship Programme 2026 must satisfy the following requirements:
- Must have secured at least 60% marks or equivalent grade in the previous qualifying examination.
- Students currently studying in the second year of graduation are eligible to apply.
- Candidates who have already completed graduation can also apply.
- NCST may grant relaxation in eligibility requirements in exceptional cases.
The Commission has clarified that meeting the eligibility criteria alone does not guarantee selection.

Applicants must upload the following documents while submitting their applications:
- Statement of Purpose (SOP) on the prescribed topic.
- No Objection Certificate (NOC), wherever applicable.
- Relevant academic certificates and supporting documents.
Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated based on multiple parameters, including:
- Academic performance.
- Relevance of academic background.
- Quality and originality of the Statement of Purpose.
- Authenticity of information provided by the candidate.
Candidates shortlisted after document verification will be invited for a personal interview or an online interview before final selection.

Stipend and Attendance Requirement
Selected interns will receive a stipend of ₹15,000 upon successful completion of the internship programme. However, the stipend will only be released to candidates who maintain a minimum attendance of 90% during the one-month internship period.
The final list of selected interns will be prepared based on recommendations made by the Selection Committee after scrutiny of applications and interviews.
